Some old doodles I did back in the day to expand on the details of my Glex'ian fanmade alien species. Particularly how their young develop
1. They live in different clans around a big swamp. Each Glex'ian female lay about 5 eggs at the time. The slimy eggs get stuck to each other and left onto the water to drift off into the swamp. The slime will leave them stuck to a rock or tree when the tide is high and stay up high safe as the waterline sink again.
2. After hatching the little ones eat the slimy eggshells before dumping down into the waters of the swamp.
3. From small they live without parents or any adults looking after them, eating anything smaller than themselves. They got no antennae yet and their eyes are always black or a very dark colour. They seems to be having a different kind of sight than adults with fully developed antennae. The insect like legs are to climb back up from the waters to rest in the safety of the trees before returning their greedy hunt.
4. As they grow, small bumps appear on their foreheads later to become their antennae as their eyes slowly start changing into lighter colour tones. The main arms start becoming more arm like as they slowly start to grow thumbs and the other legs on their sides start to shrink away. Like a tadpole losing its tail as it grow legs.
5. At this stage they usually get found by an adult Glex'ian and brought back to one of the clans around the swamp. When the small insect legs are almost gone and the antennae start to grow the fine sensitive hair.
From then on they'll be dressed and education in the believes and tradition of the clan taking claim on the youngling. They also receive the respective clan marks telling which tribe they'll be belonging to after leaving the swamp
There's only 5 tribes, which I'll get more into another time.
The Glex'ians don't got much parental feelings for their youngs but protect their swamp from any outsiders to make sure the young will grow up without disturbance until they are ready to join one of the tribes. The different tribes live in peace together yet separated by different believes. It is their way to keep order and balance. Since it is never known which tribe the youngling originally came from they know they are all one and the same only separated by their different chosen believes.
The young never claimed by a tribe tends to wander off into the wild and become the uncivilized tribeless. They do not attack the organized tribes due to differences in numbers, but are the greatest danger to any visiting aliens daring to venture the bogs without knowing what to look out for.
Enjoy!
