When Kye was younger he was scared of the dark, the fyre foxes never had this issue obviously. Kye being the only one who wasn’t a walking lantern or nocturnal made him feel more vulnerable left alone. Luckily, he always had his dear friend Mylar buzzing around him all the time.

Also I’ve decided fyre foxes are nocturnal because they just look cooler at night.
