Looks like more than crying. It looks like one of the eyes has been gouged out and the socket is leaking blood.

His eyes could just be black now that they've been drained of purple glow energy.

Maybe the eyes are black, but that doesn't explain the "tears" being the color of blood, even as they drip to the ground. So I'm still thinking gouged out eye.

You're questioning inky tears from a character that is an undead, soul-eating, dragon who is seemingly getting magical purple drank siphoned out of them.

I am colorblind so they do look like the color of blood to me, as I see it at least. Still think an eye was gouged out and the socket is leaking blood.

I am not colorblind and can confirm: dragon has a different color of blood than what is coming down from their eye.

As I said, I still think the eye was gouged out. The only ones who are going to convince me otherwise is either Red-IzaK, or Talaran.

After seeing the one where the dragon is brought in on the cart, I looked up the commissioner. It's kind of fascinating and I'd love to know more about it. From what I gather they were a chill red dragon but something catastrophic (possibly death) turned them into a soul-eating monster who's killed and destroyed at least two other people (going by the commissions, at least). Who knows? Maybe these people will be able to revert him...

According to the owner's responses in other submissions (under the tag Taldren, the dragon's name), he was corrupted by dark magic and warlocks. So these scientists are almost certainly trying to save him from the corruption caused by the demonic purple shackles, which the warlocks put on him.

Almost certainly. The purple shackles are covered in "demonic spells" (owner's own words) and he was corrupted by "dark magic and warlocks" (ditto). Instead of killing him, they're almost certainly trying to save him.

Very definitely a criminal. Though I'd like to think that since they've not executed him out of hand they're trying to turn him back into a normal dragon instead of the soul-eating abomination he is at the moment.
