so much so even it was the very game I had in mind to make before it was made. I remember well, the summer before it came out, I was discussing my game idea with a friend on our way to England (was for a school trip thing) where we discussed ideas for a first person platformer (he liked shooters so we mixed guns in to) but like, where you could see all the animations of your body like you were in their perspective, your hands would have to reach out to grab items and ledges and such, and you would have like this level of control and immersion never before seen in a game that I knew of.
Welp, here comes mirror's edge doing practically just that and I was like... DAMN IT! x3 back to the drawing board! *well I still have a similar game idea in mind but reworking it now*
It doesn't mean by ANY means that mirror's edge is a game without faults, it's a tad bit lineir for what I would want it to be. At the very least have a larger variety of ways to make it to the end goal some being faster or the same depending how you approach it. They have it in bits, but it's not very heavily fleshed out.
Also with that free roaming, how badly I wanted to just run across the tops and go to distant buildings almost like a grander scale of assassin's creed~ though much more skill than creed as you actually have to involve yourself in the parcor and running~ x3 (though I love the animation system that so realistically grabs edges in assassin's creed)
And lastly on this short review, yes the e surance style cut scenes seem a bit off. I like it from an artistic view buuuut I do think since they have such a unique and beautiful world in 3D... they should use it x3
But that's just my take~ I love the gameplay and can't wait to see them perfect it next game as well as the mechanics and everything else~
Music/sound: 9 (great music, sound of the city really draws you in)
gameplay: 9.5 (stated above)
graphics: 9 (also stated above)
voice acting: 8 (good voices and actors, just the script kinda leaves out the potential)
level design: 8 (same as with voice acting, great potential, not enough abusing it. Needs more paths to get to an end goal also: free roaming)
Total: 8.7 highly anticipating the sequel x3

i have seen the game abouts for really cheap...i am tempted to get it but the whole only first person sorta perspective(not saying i hate them or never play them, elder scrolls series, call of duty etc) its just this seems different, too much more challenging. The theme song Still Alive tho LOVE IT
You know from what I have seen from different sources, people either love it or hate it. Not seen many on the fence about it. I have to say it seem interesting and the story seems interesting. Don't much care for the e surance commercial type cut-scenes and from game play that I have watched. Well... they should do something about how it goes from eye searing brightness to I can't see shit darkness XD
