"Some extra stuff about the outfit and the swordstaff thing there!
The overall outfit takes an idea from a game! (Secrets of) Grindea has this thalassocratic nation of traders, who's sailors all have these funny pyramid hats - you can do a quest to get one, and it's explained to you that they're enchanted with wind magic, and people practiced enough can use them to fly
I kept the same idea, but extended it to the rest of the outfit as well, what with all the hooks and billowing clothes to create more surface area.
And about the sheath of the weapon there splitting: it was from an idea for an old ~~cringe~~ weapon I designed a while back! Basically, the blade on that was half the length of the haft, and I later discovered that was basically what a swordspear was - and iirc at some point a magic focus got added to the end to serve as yet another swiss army weapon.
The design here is similar, but uses the sheath itself to achieve the "swordspear" effect by only drawing it from the first segment, and the whole sheath lets it work as a full staff as well. Plus it can then be a full sword if needed, too. It's based on a longsword from MH Generations, called the Moofah Blade, which is a cane blade *and* a shepherd's crook when sheathed." -Notes from Nihalla
