Takes place Early Winter, while Sasha[willowbyrd] and Josephine [SunkissinArt] are both still missing.
It had been months, an entire season now since Josephine and Sashas' disappearances in early Fall. The saturated tones of Fall were replaced with the cold, lonely tones of Winter. Ashwood and Josephine had been returning home from the Rider mission, the one HE had asked for. The one HE had asked Josephine to company him home on, and now.. now, she was gone. The two Riders still had not turned up anywhere in the territory for months, the last time they were seen was when those wolves were chasing them. Sasha got separated before she could reach them, as Josephine slipped off the cliff. The grass having been too slick with mud for her paws to get any grip.
The screams of the golden Rider still echoed in his mind, haunting him for days on end. Rest failed to find him, eyes hollow and tired, as sleep danced just out of reach. Whenever he closed his eyes, the face of Josephine appeared only to disappear within the rushing waters that took her. Screams echoed, snarling, panicked breaths and then silence as he was startled away by his beating heart. Over the last few months, Ashwood had found himself starting to distance himself once again from packmates. The only wolf he had found himself around, was Devina. The dark maned wolfess found her way in the same path he was heading most few days, to the place of Josephines' disappearance. Often, for a few hours before duty called, the pair would search and wait for the sound of Sasha or Josephines' voices to merge from the winter woods. But nothing. He was told that he too would have been dragged over the edge if he had managed to grab her scruff.
But it had been his fault, for being too slow. For asking her to accompany him.
If he had taken a bigger wolf, such as Deonte or Howl. She would be here with them, as they howled. But this song was not of joy, but of mourning. Of loss, for those missing or far from home.
Had this been the feeling that haunted Orsu, Ricci and Keezheekoni when Yulian had disappeared over a year ago? It burned at his chest, it also felt cold and foreign.
Had his aunt, father, sister as well as Polarstag felt this sting when he vanished 2 years prior?
He wouldn't wish it on anyone.
He wanted his best friend back.
He just wanted Riverfells 'Sunflower' back.
Was Josephine still out there.. was she alive?
