A straightedge I own depicting a Shepherd dog running after a red, blue and yellow-colored beach ball, with a speed boat cruising by in the background. I've always loved Shepherds, since I think they're the one single breed that comes closest to the ancestor of all dogs; Canis Lupus, the wolf.
This straightedge comes with a really neat feature -- there's an optical illusion that can be triggered by gradually tilting the straightedge up and down repeatedly. I don't know EXACTLY how this illusion works, but one rough explanation is that there are multiple layers that shift past each other, causing the colors to change, which in turn can be manipulated into showing different pictures depending on which angle you look at the straightedge. This trick was also used in a dinosaur-themed information book for example, where you could look at the picture in the middle and see the different dinosaurs move toward and away from each other depending on the angle you were looking at it.
It's kind of hard to explain without having the option to physically show how it works. Anyway, let me know if you happen to own something that creates this exact same visual effect!
