Curled up on some very thick web (with a hint of shed snake skin in the background) this spider was sitting in that spot the whole time I traipsed around the overturned chunk of wood in the back yard.

I was snagging some video of other spiders and some centipedes and just spotted this monster curled up, plotting my ending.

Huge garden spiders the first time i saw one was when i almost ran into one as a little kid that was almost as big as my face and it scared the piss out of me

This one is a funnel web spider.

I'm not sure about the red one in the earlier pic- theres a bunch of hunting spiders in that family.
However, these I have seen locally.
