ED docs have a reputation of putting in a ton of orders (especially x-rays, CTs, MRIs, etc) before even seeing the patient.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since the ED is very busy alllllll the time and they have to save time where they can.
However, it does cause them to be made fun of from time to time on their test-firsts ask questions later mentality.

Here in Canada those types of scans usually have to be done by an appointment and the waiting lists can be upwards of six months to a year because of limited machines and even more limited specialized tech workers to operate them. So quite often the opposite happens here, where when a scan IS needed it doesn't get ordered until basically everything aside from a scan is done.
I'll still take that over not having universal healthcare though.
(On that note it'd be interesting to see your characters interact with doctors and nurses from a region that DOES have universal healthcare so they can compare notes...and realize NOT having universal healthcare sucks.)

LOL, and making said ED a psychic type adds to that, because "technically" they don't need to see the patient physically, especially a Pokemon like Gallade, who evolve from Kirlia and Ralts that are connected to feelings. So, if their powers are string enough they could just have a mental image of what the patient needs. But yeah I do wonder about the mental state about some of these characters, now this Gallade even more XD
