Her heart was pounding fast as she walked down the hallway. She overcame all the challenges thus far and yet, Lyra felt nervous about this battle. Her partner PokΓ©mon, sensing this, let out a battle cry, she smiled and petted it reaffirming the fac that thereβs no turning back now.
Eager to know what lied behind it, they approached the huge door as fast as they could.
Once she opened the door, Lyra was marveled by, what she thought, could be a room fitted for a prince.
She couldnβt believe her eyes when she distinguished someone familiar at the center of the hall, a smile spread across his face, as if he was proud to see her there.
I've been waiting for you - He made a pause - Lyra! I knew that you, with your skills, would eventually reach me here. There's no need for words now. We will battle to determine who is the stronger of the two of us. As the most powerful Trainer and as the Pokémon League Champion⦠I, Lance the dragon master, accept your challenge!
There was no time to hesitate now, Lyraβs biggest challenge was about to take place.

Second time I make Lyra suffer (Just kidding lol), I mean, battle a strong trainer first time was in Let it burn even though this battle would occur before meeting Leaf. I thought it would be symbolic to write about her journey again, letβs say this is the same "version" of Lyra I wrote for the pic I linked before x3
Originally planned to post this in November for #ChampionLanceWeek2021 on Twitter, either for Dragonite Day or Free Day, but as you can see, I couldnβt finish it in time and only managed to partially work on the lineart so I thought itβd be nice to make it the first drawing I post in 2022 (βΏβ βΏβ )
From the lineart to the coloring and shading, this took a lot to be done, it took more time to color Lance than Dragonite even though I drew each scale xD
Even though my favorite Champions are Cynthia, Diantha and Steven, I really like Lance too, his design (Especially in HGSS) and personality are amazing and his battle is one of the most memorables in PokΓ©mon (*cough* THREE underleveled Dragonite lol *cough*), so it was fun to draw him (*^β½^*)
I must say that this is the first time I draw Lance and Dragonite haha (ββ½β)
