This is a decently old piece (April of 2009). Done as part of a collaboration contest on deviantArt. I did the line work, and later my partner did the colouring.
I've decided to only upload my half here, for the full piece, please see it on deviantArt: http://ffredxiii.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d22v8tj
Based upon the aesop fable of the lion who spares a mouse, who then comes to free him from a hunter's trap.
Not surprisingly, this is the top of what I'm actually capable off, not the best, but nowhere near as bad as I was about 4 years ago. Whew, those were terrible times.
Originally, he was suspended by his left leg, thus his odd contortion, as his right leg is falling down due to gravity and so he could get a better position. He was reaching for his spear. These were changed in the final version, with the right leg being the one caught, making his left leg position awkward, but making more sense for the position of the sword. But that only matters if you look at the finished version on dA.
