Getting behind on the prompts for Fabluary, trying to make illustrations for my friend Burd's FableVerse world building. So I'm mixing a few together to speed up and make more expansive illustrations.
I sweat FableVerse is more than just wolves and sheeps, but they are kind of the mascot to me for this world setting XD;
Predators were the original life on this world's land, beasts fighting and consuming each other to gain the power their Souls contained. To keep one from just becoming the strongest of all, until none else was left, the Soul came with empathy. The strongest Predator challenged by the weakest, would kneel and let the weak consume their Soul to become part of the cycle.
The wolves reached Enlightenment by sheer size of their gathered Soul and with the empathy it brought, they wanted to change the world order. Creating soulless Prey they could consume without eating each other instead.
They created a Paradise for the Predators reaching same level of empathy to agree to eat Prey instead of each other.
Until the day a Prey somehow consumed a piece of meat part of a Predator, getting a taste of Soul. They could siphoned its power, and the hunger for that came with it, but could not contain it. Driven mad for more violence broke out, and the change began spreading to the other simple beasts. A blood bath ending in all Predators killed and consumed. The Prey running out of a source for Soul, they would begin to lose the power they had gained.
They stayed changed, and adapted to a new life where they could claim the world that once belonged to the mighty Predators. Soon forgetting, as they were still soulless simple creatures.
Living in a world were even the sweetest and kindest fellow you know, holds no concept of empathy. No concept of life and death, just as they were created not to have. But now with the ability to take actions based on nothing but ignorance and selfishness, with no concept of consequences of someone else's pain.
