The Fool Prince
Hey all,
Hereās another drawing that Iāve been sitting on for a while!
This drawing actually started as just an idea for a cool outfit, specifically the idea of āWhat if the Royal Jester was in fact a Royal himself?ā
A friend of mine then floated out the idea that maybe the outfit could be tied into Juniorās backstory.
That conversation begat many ideas, but the main one introduced was the idea that Junior was in fact a reincarnation.
His previous incarnation had been a haughty prince during medieval times who had been destined to destroy a Dragon plaguing his kingdom.
The prince was meant to wield a sacred weapon that had been in his family for generations and had the magical power necessary to slay the foul beast.
However, the weapon could only be wielded by one pure of heart and the Princeās pride and arrogance prevented him from achieving such purity.
Unable to defend himself, the Prince fell to the Dragon, who cast a terrible spell upon the Prince.
The spell transformed the Prince into a Fool, with his skin turning milky white, his hair and nose red as a cherry, and his princely armor transformed into a jesterās garb with a thick diaper around his waist to show all the world his new status as an object of ridicule.
The Dragon kept the transformed Prince as his captive, humiliating him by treating him as an infant, such as keeping him in a cage-like crib, feeding him mashed foods and milk, and only allowing him to relieve himself in his diaper.
The Prince resisted at first, but eventually he broke, his pride shattered, and he accepted his new role as the Dragonās plaything.
Upon seeing the Prince accept his new role as a Fool, the Dragon carried his charge back to his former kingdom to boast of his victory.
The kingdom was horrified to see their once-proud Prince in such a humbled state and all felt that surely the kingdom would fall to the Dragonās wrath.
Upon seeing the peopleās hopelessness, the Dragon thought to humiliate the Fool one last time by giving the magical weapon back to the Fool, almost as a parody of when the moment he had first challenged him as the Prince.
To both of their surprise, the weapon reared to life, the air itself sparking with magical energy. It was then the Prince realized the truth. In having his pride broken out of him, he had finally achieved the purity needed to tap into his ancestral power.
The Dragon lunged at him, desperate to undo his mistake, but it was too late. The Fool released a blast of magic so powerful, that it surrounded both the Dragon and the Fool.
As the magic began to transform the Dragon, he uttered a curse that he and Fool would meet in another life, where the Fool would be broken. The Fool shook his head and said that he did want to see the Dragon again, but in that next life, he hoped they could meet again as friends.
The magic then lifted from the two. The Fool still looked as he had before, but the Dragon was changed. He no longer was a towering behemoth, but was instead small, round, and somewhat⦠cute?
The Dragon had been transformed into a creature that could easily pass as a childās toy. Whatās more was that the Dragon seemed to have lost all memories. When he asked the strangely dressed Fool in front of him who he was, the Fool simply replied that he was free to be whoever he wanted to be.
The former Dragon pondered this for a moment before deciding he would āTugalongā with the Fool for a while. The Fool thought for a moment to correct him and ask if he meant to say āTag-along,ā but he decided not to linger over such trivialities.
With the Dragon ādefeatedā and the Fool now able to wield the magical weapon of the ancestors, the royal court questioned if he would use the magic to return to his previous appearance.
The Fool humbly shook his head and replied that he only became worthy of his ancestorās magic when he had been forced to let go of his pride.
He decided from then onward that he would rule as a Fool Prince, a kind ruler that didnāt take himself too seriously and valued the happiness of those he ruled over above all else.
True to his word, the former Dragon now known by the name Mr. Tugalong, stayed by The Fool Princeās side for the rest of his days.
However, those days eventually came to an end, and the Fool Prince was no more.
To a creature like Mr. Tugalong, who exists as long as there is magic in the world, he could not understand a concept such as Death.
So he decided to leave the kingdom and travel the world to see if he could find the Fool Prince. Along the way he caused great mischief, sometimes to those who deserved it and sometimes to those who didnāt.
Along the way, as the centuries passed, in the back of his mind he remembered something, a promise or a curse, but he could not remember which.
All he knew was that he would find the Fool Prince again. Some dayā¦

So yeah, that was an idea Iāve been sitting on for a while now! Iām honestly not sure if I should actually consider this story canon to Juniorās backstory or not, but either way Iām glad I was finally able to share it with you all.
In case you couldnāt tell, the Dragon character is the previous incarnation of my other OC, Mr. Tugalong! You can find out more about him at the link down below:

Lastly, you might be wondering what the Dragonās curse meant when he said that the Fool Prince would be broken when they would meet again in another lifetime. The answer to that question can be found here:

That's a nice idea. What's funny about that is that the story is actually about Junior/Mason. He was that prince in his previous life. The dragon's curse is what caused him to develop multiple personalities. However, if he can find Mr. Tugalong again, then the curse will be broken.
