Drayk and I got to talking about an appropriate symbol for intersexed males. After some Googling, the closest I could find was the transgendered symbol, or the (done-to-death) herm symbol. Unable to find an "official" symbol, I figured I would try my hand at designing a symbol for the group.I feel the symbol itself is representative in a few ways; most notably the shape itself vaguely resembles a vulva (and clitoral hood). After a few iterations Drayk and I decided to leave the female cross out of the symbol entirely.
If C-Boys are your thing, why not pop on over to the FA group?
c-boysoffa- - EDIT -
Yes. The symbol is similar to Above the Influence.
However: http://www.logodesignlove.com/simil.....original-logos
It happens. Not to mention that this is not a registered logo, just a symbol.

Butt your arrow connects with the circle, so all is well!
Very cool 3D image btw.

I thought about spewing any number of design quotes I've spewed many-a-time from college. You've probably heard them all. :3
Yeah, I like simple. The more clearly I can communicate, the better. Verbally (and you know this from the con), I'm terrible at being succinct. Good design speaks for itsel- AH DAMMIT! I CLICHED!

That's praticly the same symbol as the Montréal subway :)

Good point. Though can't have all symbols be totally universal.
Perhaps a symbol like two legs spread, the shaft of the arrow actually starting between the legs, which would indicate penetration, and a symbolic penis?
Or a sort of cut into the bottom of the symbol (representing the cunt) the arrow as you have it with a penis shape in that arrow like a small cutout?

Any symbol can be universal once everyone understands what it is used for, and c for cunt can be translated into other languages so they know the symbol stands for that opening.
You could have your symbol have a notch in it standing for the vagina and the arrow for the male portion.

yes, but I wanted to continue in the tradition of the astrological symbols that were adopted around the Renaissance. Technically, the symbol for intersexed (that isn't really used as much as the combined mars/venus symbol) would be the symbol for Mercury. Not to mention that good design isn't about adding needless complexity. In order for a symbol to be accepted universally (let's use the Nike swoosh as an example) it takes years of branding before it can stand on it's own without explanation (people see the swoosh and know exactly what it is).
Drayk and I went over a few variations of this symbol before we went with this one. It's not the end all - be all. Just my take on it.

"Snooty." Being told what not to be makes me want to be it all the more.
Yes, you read the comments, thank you. Did you miss the part where I linked the similar logos article in my description? If so here it is again: http://www.logodesignlove.com/simil.....original-logos
If a lack of originality is your argument, I can only agree with you (as I have with others above). I don't claim this to be terribly original. Simplified, yes, but don't mistake simplicity for laziness.
Don't ever assume I'm taking a snooty tone. Honest and to the point, yes. Moreover, you haven't said anything that hasn't already been brought up and addressed above; for that reason you'll have to forgive my blunt and mild appreciation of the irony of a comment about originality.

As this is a symbol of gender+sexuality, can this be considered a free image to upload to Wikimedia Commons, preferably under CC-BY-SA 3.0?
Your symbole is also the one for the Montreal Métro if you put it upside down ^^

As someone has engaged my original comment, but blocked me before I could respond, I feel it's reasonable that I comment down here to offer some clarity.
I wish I could remember where my head was at when I made my original comment, but it's been six years, and I can't even remember what I had for breakfast. What I can say, is that these days I'm of the opinion that c-boy is a term that can be used by whomever wants to use it to describe themselves. However, big however, I feel it shouldn't be used to describe someone without their explicit permission.
I'm happy to discuss my older comments if someone finds them questionable. Many opinions are fluid, and over time can change as society changes and people have different experiences. It's good to discuss how views can change over the years, but by blocking someone, you deny them the chance to turn the situation into a positive conversation that can help both people to learn and grow.

Non-cisgender furry Unicode geek here:
About 4 years after this post, Unicode accidentally encoded a version of this symbol as the code point U+2B89, though theirs is sort of like a BW film negative of it, and not all fonts properly respect the proportions (which UnifontEX does, though obviously 16x16 is difficult to draw in), and it's not exactly in the most fonts. Nonetheless, it IS technically a character you can type.
