General Deirdre Lohan, at the end of a long campaign, stands victorious over the field of battle. For her, this could mean her own personal demons as easily as any physical foe she's had to face. Being a soldier isn't something that comes easily to her. She was raised in a faith that strongly opposes violence of any kind. But she sees what she does as a necessity of the time in which she lives, and she has found a kind of contentment in knowing that she is helping to protect the ones she loves.
Deirdre is the closest thing to a traditional fantasy action hero I have. Of all my characters, she's probably the one who has stayed closest to the myths and stories that inspired her. But she's still fragile and flawed enough to be one of the most human characters I think I've ever managed to create. She's also one of my older characters, coming in at 39 years old, with a grown daughter and a little better than 20 years as a soldier. And if all this sounds a bit too much like bragging, keep in mind that she's my favorite character out of all the ones I've created so far.

Yeah, this was just a quick sketch so I could only give them the one visual reference I had. I'll probably come up with something a bit more original for her to wear for next time. Though I do have to admit I really like those clothes, and they do look really nice when you can get a clear view, too.
I'm glad you think so. I had actually planned for this to have a bit of a darker mood, with her actually in the midst of confronting those personal demons I mentioned. But I really like the happier mood that this ended up with. Deirdre spent a lot of the book being pretty angry, and it's nice to see her in a more pleasant light for a change. And thanks. I've always been very fond of her, but it's easy to see your own characters in a positive light no matter what other people might think. So it's great to know you agree that she's a good character!
I say the same as before, amazing character, I love when the womem use a sword like a female warrioress, I know the celtic culture is full about this kind of wariors, I dream with a cloaked fox warrioress fighting with me side by side.

Thanks, I'm really glad you like her. I really admire strong women too, and some of my favorite people out of history are women who went to war for one reason or another. Deirdre's a little bit more complicated than that, but the best parts of her personality are based on some of the people I admire. And yeah, Niobe did a wonderful job with this, I agree!
Well in this momment our president is woman and she is in the top 10 of the world leaders ^^. I admire very much her, her name is Cristina Fernandez De Kirchner, She is a Light for Argentina ^^.

I'm really flattered you like her so much. I don't think anybody has been this fond of her before, but she's one of my favorite characters. I do plan to get more commissions of her in the future, yes. And while I can't draw, myself, I do plan to write a few short stories around her at some point, too.
