In my country valentine is called -dia del amor y la amistad- (day of love and friendship) so it was more an exchange of candy and presents between friends. Some of the kids brought baked goods or bags of candy and gave one to every kid in the class.

Tbh I kept doing it all the way to college because I did notice how the other guys and girls that were bit expecting anything get their face lit.

I still do it at work pre-covid and we'll I used to get lots of presents too. It feels nice to celebrate the friendship part
