The largest engines at the antique engine show during this years Harvest Festival at Renfro Valley, KY. These are two "oil field" engines which appearently were used in oil extraction in their operating career. Here they are being fired off propane.

In real life I'm sure something workable could be worked out. But it would be very unstable and extremely hard to keep properly fueled. Plus the fact that boilers take very badly to sudden changes in angle and getting bumped around alot.
