In the book Dune by Frank Herbert, the main character Paul Atreides adopts the name Mua'Dib [mwa deeb] which in the made up culture of the Fremen people is the word for kangaroo mouse. And I can't tell you why he chooses that name without spoilers. But that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the mousey.
