So, when I introduced Maka Mauna, my syren dragonrider character (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45247250/), I promised I'd also show her pet dragon. And here he is.

Kuke (full name "Ka Mea Nana I Luku I Na Hale Kuke", or "He Who Destroys Kitchens") is an imperial dragon, also known as an aquatic dragon. Favored by the dragonriders of the seas, they can easily transition between submerged, overland, and aerial flight (though not as high as a great dragon).

While as physically imposing as any other dragon, the true terror of Kuke is the bottomless pit of his stomach. And only through sating his demands does Maka get the well-trained dragon she put so much work into. (And please, don't tell him his dapper vest is really a saddle.)

My intent is to have the dragons (at least, the domesticated ones) in my world walk the threshold between intelligent beasts and sapient creatures. I.e., sometimes they appear to exhibit an uncanny intelligence, while other times, they're just lovable goofballs. And no one knows for sure which side is their true nature.
