One of my first Cave Story fanarts... when I kept getting my ass owned in the Sand Zone while searching for puppies. And I managed to mess up his shirt and pants. Shows how much I pay attention ^_^.

Try using some of your other weapons -- the Fireball's still effective against ground enemies, especially on sloped terrain.
You can also try to pick up the Bubbler, which can be found in a semi-secret place in Mimiga Village. It starts out weak, but it eventually becomes a decent weapon, especially at level 3.
