A wonderful tribute to Ivan Reitman.
Let us remember Ivan Reitman who was a talented producer and director.
He gave us classics like Animal House, Ghostbusters 1 and 2, Heavy Metal, Stripes, Twins, Rabid, Meatballs, Dave etc and produced Space Jam, Evolution, Howard Stern's Private Parts etc.
We grew up with his stuff even me and I'll be 40 in June as i grew up with Ghostbusters 1 and 2 as i saw the movie in theater in it's 85 re-issue when i was 3 as one of the first movies i saw in theaters and had it taped off HBO at age 4! and saw GB 2 in theaters on opening day at age 7 on my birthday as i saw it twice in theaters. I saw Stripes on video at age 5 35 years ago , saw Animal House on video at age 9 as it's been one of my fave comedies since, saw Dave in theaters at age 11 and enjoyed it since, saw Heavy metal on Cinemax at age 11 nearly 30 years ago as it became one of my fave animated movies and fantasy movies, saw Twins in theaters at age 6 in Omaha, saw Space Jam and Private Parts in theaters when i was 14 and 15 and so on. as i enjoyed each of those movies.
He was a talented producer and director who made us laugh, fear (like in Rabid and Shivers by David Cronenberg), smile, cry and all that.
I'm glad he did the new UHD 4K restoration of Stripes on both cuts in a new restoration from the original negative and supervised them even did a new 40th anniversary documentary on the movie . Even glad he produced Ghostbusters Afterlife and also did the new 4K restoration of Heavy Metal from the original 35mm camera negative he supervised even a new HM retrospective documentary that has him in it including celebrities and directors who are fans of the movie on why they grew up with it and influenced them even how they saw it on either theaters or cable as a kid in the 80s or early 90s before it hit video in 96. for the upcoming UHD 4K which i can't wait to get.
And i did got the new Columbia Classics Volume 2 UHD 4K recently which has Stripes as he did a fantastic restoration on theatrical and extended cuts. I even got the new Ghostbusters 4K boxset as the original 2 movies never looked and sounded better. Him interviewed for Twins Shout Factory blu, him produced Ghostbusters Afterlife, and others recently i mentioned are nice ways to go out on a good note before he passed on.
Thank you Mr Reitman for entertaining us and me over the years. I'm also thankful you made these two iconic animated beauties' Taarna and Lola Bunny! i still remember digging Taarna at age 11 and Lola when i was 14. I still dig them, lol. They too want to thank you Mr Reitman for years of memorable entertainment.
Here's Taarna's theme complete with Taarna Forever from the movie's score by Elmer Bernstein as a nice wake music then Dana's theme from Ghostbusters then I Believe i can Fly from the Space Jam soundtrack as wake music too for him.
