So,
Chinchy is someone I've been hearing about from other people I hang out with for a while now, and when I noticed commission slots were open recently, I decided to go for it. Started with my regular 'Jenora, dancing' idea just to see what the result would be, and got this jazzy piece as a result. (I suppose it isn't really soft-shoe dancing if I'm not wearing shoes...) Sometimes it's all about the control and the showing off... and the showing off of control.
I love perspective shots; they really can give a great impression of scale.
(And I still think the billboard on the right rooftop looks like it could be a boombox speaker on the front, which would be appropriate.)

I met the same 'right-hand-speaker' of the billboard 'boom box' allusion you did, Jenora, although I will also sustain that if your dance is in the midst of a trio of buildings bounding the road at all four side save for the cameraperson and artist's view, the 'box' of buildings could be a 'boom box' with the help of your considerable footfalls as you dance. Position, not insistence, tho'. ^_^
I thoroughly dig this drawing of you, Jenora, I do! <3

And you are the most wonderful economy-sized purr-cushion, you are. The bestest Golden-Brown, Jade-Eyed Star-Dancer, who has the comfy pinned down proper! <3

+1 artist on my watch list =^.^=
The perspective is nice, but also the soft fish-eye distortion, the way the surroundings naturally curve around Jenora. Something on my list to explore, too!
And this shows off Jenora's confidence well - not just balancing on a single foot a third the size of the road, but dancing, and with her right hand just hovering a short distance above that roof (as far as I can tell), and situated between a few buildings - she doesn't seem concerned about accidentally bumping into anything.
In line with NeoVid's thoughts, this view has me wondering if Jenora ever does hands-on dance lessons of sorts, showing proper form and control from, say, shoulder perspective (perhaps more for fun with however impractical that may be at actually teaching the motions).

Hee. And yes, Jenora is generally pretty confident, at least of where she is and where she's going.
I've only had one real 'dance lessons' pic done, and that didn't involve macro in any way; that would be this one from
WolfPsalm. Honestly I don't have a lot of non-solo dancing pictures at all yet, sadly, though I'm working to rectify that.
I have considered what it would be like to do dance instruction at, say, Mensura College from some of
Arilin's stories... That's an idea that I would obviously want to get permission to do anything with, of course. Sitting on the shoulder would... probably not be the best location to observe footwork, true, but it would definitely be quite a view.
(Player has actually done ballroom dancing before, though not too seriously. And my martial arts training only gets used for story fight choreography these days.)

Ah, noted. I'm in favor of your dancing pursuits, both from a dynamic/perspective pose, and as a fan of expressing music through a visual form. Thank you for that link!
Setting a scene or several in Mensura College (with permission from Arilin) sounds intriguing. Mixed-size instruction, getting paid to inspire/show off.. and help others learn, too.
And… oh! Um. Truth be told, I was actually trying to counter my own biases by suggesting a perch that /wouldn't/ involve closely observing one's footwork. But, um, if the opportunity to tutor arose, this data-fox wouldn't require much to be convinced of the greater educational potential and practicality of a more pedestrian placement.
(There's actually an ongoing scene with a certain precise blue fox that's helping this fox learn to "dance" with them, and for every fumble, they shrink this fox a bit more to "make things easier" and other friendly excuses. Unsurprisingly, this fox's missteps have led to winding up harmlessly underfoot a non-zero number of times…)
(And, noted! Even just some first-hand experience helps a lot.)

Ahhh, I see, wanting to avoid distractions so you can focus on the actual instruction rather than the details, hmm? That's understandable, even if footwork is generally a necessary part of dancing. Granted, watching someone else's feet isn't a necessary part of it, the point is more in knowing where your own are. It can be helpful at times, though.
I had done some thinking of how Jenora would fit into that world background. It required a little tweaking, but surprisingly not too much aside from toning down the power levels a fair bit. She'd probably end up as an elemental magical summoning with enough spirit bound in to have a mind of her own. Probably to the disappointment of whatever mage summoned her who would be grumbling about why she was questioning orders. (If you're smart enough to figure out when the orders don't apply and you need to do something else, you're also smart enough to wonder if the orders ever really applied.) She'd probably not want to be around campus during any time when magical exams were being undertaken; binding spells can be a bit of a touchy subject.
I'm enough of a world-builder myself that questions like this tend to run laps around in my head way too often...

Errp, yes! Avoiding distraction in step-by-step instruction was my reason.. but I imagine that after some initial shyness, this fox could follow along without issue. While I am easily flustered, I have some awareness and restraint. It would depend on whether or not the dance instructor was intentionally trying to be a little playful with a little fox…
Ooh, that variation of Jenora sounds like it would make for some intriguing stories (vignettes?). Subversion of expectations can be a lot of fun, especially with inverting assumed/typical power dynamics. I'd imagine it might be a bit similar to a "wise/mischievous genie in a bottle" situation (though I suspect Jenora would have some words to say should any mage claim such a comparison). Perhaps when paired with a less-than-appreciative summoner, Jenora might help teach them a level of thankfulness and/or humility.
There's no expectation, but I do encourage exploring this setting further if it strikes your fancy again.
[And pardon my long delay - I simply lost track of time]

As to whether the instructor was intentionally trying to be a little playful... well, perhaps. It depends on how 'on the clock' the instruction was. Being playful is fun and all, but the work still needs to get done. Not to mention that, as I've noted before, being playful and teasing really means you hae to both know what buttons to press, and when it's time to stop pressing them. Being too pushy can push people away if you don't know their limits first. It's more fun for me if everybody involved is having fun.
And yes, that version of Jenora does have some possibilities, but given that Mensura College is Arilin's world, I've not wanted to presume too much setting things there. And it's not like I'm lacking for other ideas; I'm more lacking in time to actually write them all.
