Well... it seems that every time the weather is shitty and cold around here I'm in the mood to change this. At least... by drawing a new SWIMSUIT EDITION ARTWORK!
Yesssssss, it's finished!
I present to you: Reptile... enjoying his vacation... at a beach bar... nothing else to say, eh?
ENJOY!
Drawing media:
MEDION tablet and PHOTOSHOP 7.0.1
Working time:
about 18 hours
Artwork and character © Patrick Reichel 2022 aka

NOTE:
Right now I'd say... that's the "definitive" Reptile! The body build and design is how I want it to be.

Ahhhhhhh! He is *beautiful*! And ah, I see I was wrong with my previous assumption regarding the shape of his briefs, they aren't bikini-cut at all. XD Whoops!
Still, though, they are a magnificent pair of briefs, perfectly shaped and complimentary to his looks. Although oddly enough, they look more like underwear than a swimsuit - but then again, there are so many different styles for both these days that they might as well be interchangeable! XD
Gotta admit, though: if he *is* wearing underwear... that makes this even hotter, and I don't know why. XD
Ahhhh, he looks so relaxed and handsome as he enjoys his vacation... and you consider this to be the "definitive" Reptile? ...I approve. :D He is one spectacular scaley! :D
Curious, what's the green bracelet? I mean, yeah, it's obviously just a regular bracelet, but still, I've seen those types before but don't know the official name.

Yay!!!
THANKS VERY MUCH FOR THE LARGE COMMENT!
I'm happy you like him. ^_^
His pants should be called briefs I suppose... still, it's a lovely pair. Yeah, it's not really swimwear but Reptile wasn't planning on swimming right now. He's comfortable enough.
And he can get swimming speedos later.
Underwear look good on him because he's a real hunk and not a human... that's something else! ^^
Yep... that's the definitive Reptile so far! ^^
Aww... you spotted the green bracelet... excellent. At least someone saw that. ^^
In fact, this is a rubber band which is supposed to be some kind of proof that you paid for the bar. I mean... every customer gets a band before entering the beach... it's a security thing.
And by showing your rubber band everyone can see that you paid for the entrance.
Makes sense?
I thought it was a nice detail.

You're very much welcome, my man! :D
Yes, he's such a handsome scaley with such *excellent* taste in clothes, how could I not love him?
HAH! Then the confirmation that is underwear instead of a speedo does INDEED make this HOTTER!!! XD Again, I'm not sure why though... just the idea that he's wearing "underwear briefs" to the beach instead of "swimming briefs"... oh well. I'll just enjoy it without trying to think too hard. x3
LOL, great point! ;D
Ooooh, interesting! And yes, that is a fun little detail, not to mention smart of whoever's in charge of the beach.
Lol, now all we need is a sequel where Reptile meets some speedo-clad friends.

Not really. Speedos are often my go-to outfit for my characters. Besides, they're both come in the same variety of shapes, do they not? ;D
I think maybe the reason I think it's hotter for Reptile to be wearing underwear is because he's in a place where swimming occurs, and there's a chance some of the other beach-hunks (who would be wearing speedos themselves) might drag him into the water. Underwear isn't for swimming, after all. ;D

Yeah, pretty much. XD I mean, a fully clothed person getting wet is funny, so the same still kind of applies to a hunk wearing briefs instead of a speedo... except there's the added layer of hotness.
But I'm glad you think so! Plus, there's another reason: it looks like Reptile just rolled out of bed and decided he was going to the beach... and didn't bother getting dressed. x3 I don't know about you, but I'd love it if I could do that! XD

Yeah... that's about right. But those are horn plates so... even the fat reptilians would have a 10-pack of some sort.
XD
BUT he is well trained, yep!!!
^^

As you can see... there are at least 15 more pairs of horn plates... right up the tail!

Like i already wrote on sofurry:
Awesome work, as always!
Incredible Details, maximum of sexiness (we need a nsfw version of that lol) and a wonderful work with the lights/shadows!
Really really hot!
U cannot draw him better then this xD
(except of nude xD)
I really love it/him!

Such phenomenal aesthetic maturity in the shading and attention to detail in the linework of the peaks and valleys of his muscular physique...!! Have you ever experienced that brilliant transitory flash of awe that occurs when a piece of artwork is so superb, so deeply luxurious, you briefly believe that it's real? Just for a moment in time? I got hit instantly with that artistic authenticity when this image of Reptile on the Caribbean coastline suddenly loaded.
This very well could be your magnum opus, ReptileCynrik. The chiseled perfection of his horizontally parallel abdominal muscles, the subtle arcing electrical conduction that makes up his visible vascularity... the nodding confirmation in his scintillating eyes that reflects his unassailable self-esteem, it feels like you have captured all of the smooth ecstasy regarding sexual desire into a single character image.
Honestly, I think if I had to condense all of the beautiful integrity present in your wide body of artistic work down to a single piece, it would be this warm, friendly, welcoming and approachable version of Reptile. By the beach, indeed! Take me to heaven, you reptilian dragon warrior!
You really are one of the 'old masters' of the furry art universe, ReptileCynrik. Your command and efficacy of seeking greater and greater aesthetic stimulation with each refinement, each new piece of your world that you upload for us... it's a divine gift to your fanbase. We are all immensely in debt to you for your existence, and we continue to gather around your work, as a community, for such celestial rejuvenation.

I am truly moved and flattered by your large, elaborate comment and all the sweet words.
It's hard to put this in words at the moment... because it's a fact that I'm "just a dude who likes to draw and share my stuff"!!
Yes... I love my character and the world... and if I can make other people happy by sharing it... well, that's the best reward an artist or creator can possibly get.
Your words are highly appreciated and I thank you very, very much!!!
I always try to balance my traditional media and the official fantasy universe with the (let's be honest) fan service artworks.
But is that wrong? Or bad? Nope.
Drawing Reptile is fun and I love to share it.
After all, I don't receive cash for this... only the appreciation and joy of others.
And that's all I want.
After so many years, even I try to enhance and improve myself.
I'm glad it shows!
So... well... THANKS from the bottom of my heart.

That is actually the second thing I noticed, nearly immediately, after the blinding light of your god tier top 5% artistic skill level impaled me right in the subconscious. There is no mention of a patreon or any sort of donation solicitation that I could find on your main furaffinity page. Your self-confidence and pride as a furry artist has allowed you to escape the bleeding jaws of capitalism...!!! Even though you could easily be one of the handful of furry artists that actually pays real bills with these various digital panhandling avenues, you stayed true to your artistic spirit and dismissed them as betrayal of your cultural ambitions. The only other 'old master' of the Furry artistic world that can claim this, that I am aware of, is GeminiSaint.
To be honest you strongly remind me of the Calvin and Hobbes creator, Bill Watterson. Even though his strip rocketed to enormous popularity and is regarded as "the last great newspaper comic", he was notorious for refusing to merchandise any of the characters because he felt it would undermine the philosophical value of his artwork. One estimate places the value of licensing revenue forgone by Watterson at $300 million!
If all the high level furry artists were ranked in a tier listing as if they were in a fighting game, ReptileCynrik would be S+ tier! That means, you are so powerful that no one else can compete with you (outside of others in the S+ tier), and the strength of your technique is so overwhelming that it essentially breaks the animus of the championship.
"When bankers get together for dinner, they discuss art. When artists get together for dinner, they discuss money." - Oscar Wilde

You know... I really enjoy your sweet words of praise and honor. And I mean this in the best way possible. Your words are really, really nice and you flatter me so much. Thank you very, very much. I'm smiling all over my face and... yeah... who needs money if you get such great comments and praise?
But there's another aspect that's important to me.
Yes... I value my creation and don't expect any kind of payment (other than respectful, honest comments). That's true.
And yeah... I don't really need patreon or expensive commissions to get by... BUT (!) that's just me.
My artworks and my creations... it's just a hobby. And I can enjoy this hobby because I do not NEED money to support it.
Of course, this doesn't apply to everybody! And I would like to make clear that I highly respect all the other artists who NEED money (patreon, commissions, etc.) to survive!
Art can be a job - and it can be a hobby.
I am very fortunate and grateful that I don't have to earn money this way. I am really happy that I can enjoy this as a hobby.
But - as said before - this doesn't apply to everyone. And I don't resent or despite anybody who draws for cash.
That's NOT my place! It's not my right do speak against this!!
Sure, you didn't imply this... but I just want to make it perfectly clear that I can do this hobby... because I have a good job.
^^
It's just not fair to... well, to speak bad about artists who have to take money for their art... some artists have no other choice. It's their job!
But yeah... I'm not stupid. I'm also aware of the fact that there're artists who charge ridiculous amounts of money for a drawing... may it be good or average... I hope and wish that this never happens to me!!!
Who knows? If I didn't have a good job... I would sell my art. Possibly!?
I wouldn't know how much money I could charge for my artworks... would it be too much? Would it be fair, unfair... I dunno.
Aw, well... all this "what if"... that's so difficult and gives me a headache.
XD
In the end... I'm happy and grateful and... I like that share this feeling. I love to share my creations and good feelings and... yeah, that's just me.
And it's cool that you point it out so often.
So... I must've done something right in my life!
^^
So... last but not least:
I'm not into patreon, commissions, etc. because I simply do not need it. But I have respect for other artists who DO need it!

Imagine the thrill of talking to a celebrity! That was a wonderful reply! I'll hang it up on my wall like the rest of your artwork. I can't believe you took the time out of your day to write that to me!
I have no artistic talent, even my stick figures are bad. Thus, I can only participate in the twilight dancing ritual of artwork appreciation as an audience member. When I come across some piece of art that is truly spectacular, I feel the insatiable urge to try and match the careful love and attention the artist put into the aesthetic maturity of the piece with the fury of my humanistic adoration. Something along the lines of 'You made me feel good with that image you created, therefore, I will attempt to make you feel just as good with some warm, chesterfieldian praise'.
So, naturally, over the years I've been perusing these various art sites, I've managed to make a few friends (just a few). Usually artists that are newer to the scene, or simply not as popular as any of the god tiers. Every few weeks, I engage in some thought-provoking conversation with one of them, along with a little personal soul searching. Ideas about the furry art world, where the fandom is going, etc.
And you know something...?
YOUR name comes up EVERY time. In these discussions, somehow. Like magic. Every single side conversation that I have, rolling into weeks and months, eventually reveals your name in some manner. Your existence is like an exotic spice, that magically conjures itself into every dialogue I have with a bunch of my art friends, who are all unaware of each other's existence (no cross talk).
I very candidly think you are the ONLY artist that fits ALL of the following criteria:
1. Enormously popular.
2. Phenomenally talented.
3. Consistently replies to a staggering 75% or more of posted comments from the public on their artwork. And the enthusiasm of your replies seems to stem from a genuine love and yearning for a mutual connection, rather than being financially motivated. The only other 'old master' who seems to have such a consistently high reply rate to his fans is Todex.
4. Shows no evidence of digital panhandling or solicitations for donations of money.
To be direct, I think you have evolved beyond the term 'old master'. You're more like a living legend. I almost want to say that you could be viewed as the patriarchal father figure to this whole community. Kindness, doting, friendly, you have these desirable traits in spades and we as the audience can not reasonably ask for anything other than what ReptileCynrik is already giving us. From the bottom of his heart, and asking nothing in return.
Rock on, ReptileCynrik! Praise be to you, sensei! May the next generation of furry artists absorb your way of life!

Once again... very awesome reply and I appreciate all your kind words and effort you put into this!
THANKS SO MUCH!!!
And I can only repeat... I'm blessed and happy to be able to live this hobby. Many people need to earn money with art... but I'm fortunate and grateful.
That's also the reason why I love sharing it... because it's a gift and a pleasure and I like sharing that.
^^
And writing comments isn't difficult for me... it's also a pleasure.
After so many nice words... how can I not reply???
"Thought-provoking conversation about the furry fandom"...? That sounds really interesting, indeed.
And wow... your result is... not expected!
That's really something I didn't expect.
And it really honours me... a lot. I'm really speechless and flattered.
Wow...
:3
That's so sweet...
By the way... I'm sure that my reply rate is above 75%, LOL
Just kidding, I'm really pleased and happy!!!
:3
I really hope that some kind of "legacy" will remain when I'm long gone.
I'd like to think of "Reptile" being my "child"... an immortal child... a character that shall be drawn and shared even after I'm gone.
At least I really hope so.
All those artists in the world: YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION to draw Reptile even when I'm gone!!!!
Maybe, he'll find a new daddy... or family.
What am I talking about?
He's already got a huge family:
His fans.

Y-yes, YES indeed, master! Your reply rate is the highest and fairest of them all! An insurmountable tower of credible reliability and consistent authenticity! None can approach your ivory throne of reputable sincerity! Perish the thought, my lord! Please, I meant no impiety by my un-researched mathematical percentage based quote to your personal adoration of your fans. I throw myself at the mercy of your scaly court! Please, I beg for your amused forgiveness! Aiiieeeeee.......!!!!!!
You know what... I find it deliciously fascinating that you share your artistic dissection, regarding your spiritual ownership to Reptile and your other characters. You are actually not the first artist to invoke the poignancy of considering their creations as children. I had always surmised that you god-tier artists think of your creatures as various facets and slices of your real life personality, mixed with the brewing potency of your powerful imagination. But the tangible possibility that they could very well be your own children... now this is the stuff of myth! Bring on the furry symbolism!
Though, you really do remind me of a kind and caring father figure, carefully doting on his eager youngsters, the general audience and their commentary. I wonder if this subconsciously satisfies any latent parental instincts in your inner psyche. I wouldn't be surprised one bit to learn that there are pieces of truth laying dormant in this theory, submerged into the gentle chasm of your subliminal soul.
Your guitar sounds so sweet and clear, ReptileCynrik. Your art style is a form of visual cocaine! The furry art community is but the aperture to human self-knowledge, and you shall be our high shaman!

We both agree that your first paragraph is not meant to take seriously... right? XD
Of course, you shall be forgiven! (smiles)
^^
Oh yes... my creation is "my child" sorta. And it's fun to handle him that way too.
And by the way... I don't always have to have the "last word" in our discussions... but I just like to return the favor and feedback.

Of course. I did in fact read somewhere that you were an actual, real life school teacher. It instantly made sense to me, like finding a lock and turning the key. Of course you would be perfect for such a profession, as your personality is aligned to a masterful congruence to the requirements. Loving, polite, sociable, well-mannered, patient, talkative and deeply humane, you are the beacon of scholastic discipline.
Your last word requirements are what make you even more adorable, the icing in the proverbial cake!
But at any rate, we salute your benediction, maharishi! Again, the pleasure was all mine. God bless you.

Still looking good and wonderful~
Glad you are still around Reptile~
Still love your work, and been watching you for years since 2008~ :)
Love your work, love the scenes you have created, and overall love Reptile's story~
Still remember those plain brown loincloth days and watched as things grew more and more over the years~
My character Zharr is also a warrior as well and still bears a loincloth as well~
There's a story behind it in production, I used to draw back then but nowadays Im just focused on my career and full-time job to handle my debts, its been about 13 years since that started up haha. But I'll be free someday soon hopefully :)
Then I hope to get right back to it.
Either way I am glad you're still around, really much so. I've known you since I entered into this fandom. First time seeing your work was DeviantArt.
It just makes me happy to see you're still around :)
Hope maybe one day Zharr could meet Reptile someday, I could see them getting along.
Glad you are still around Reptile~
Still love your work, and been watching you for years since 2008~ :)
Love your work, love the scenes you have created, and overall love Reptile's story~

Oh wow! Thanks a lot for the large comment and all the nice words!!!
That's really, really appreciated. *hugs*
Yeah... "still around" is a cool phrase because I'm drawing this character for over 25 years now. AND I still like him! ^^
Also, not many people stay in the fandom for such a long time... and I think, well... it didn't hurt me in the past so why should I go away?
Also, thanks for being a true fan for all those years. Please keep watching!!!!!
^^
The loincloth is the most basic and casual wear Reptile can have. It's not gone... but not so prominent in the latest years. He doesn't wear it underneath the battle armor and the SWIMSUIT EDITION is another topic entirely.
XD
And yeah, it's never easy to combine a job and a hobby... I wish you all the best for both!
;)
