This is the finished fursuit made for me by
deezlberries
You rock, weasel! <3
The photo was taken during my first time wearing it. It took the help of two other people to get it all on. Now, I know that fursuits in general are hot. I bought Underarmor, and there's a nice big fan inside the head. I drank water before putting it on, and there was a fan going nearby at full blast. I was prepared...I thought.
Under the fursuit is an inner suit filled with polyfill padding to fill out the haunches, tummy, rump, chest and upper back. Basically, it means that along with the fursuit, I'm also surrounded by pillows. My god. Throughout my life, I have never been one to sweat, regardless of the weather. But boy did I sweat here, and that Underarmor did its job. This is going to take getting used to.
The suit is everything I wanted it to be. Deez went to amazing lengths to deliver on that, and I just can't describe how happy I am with it and how grateful I am to him. It fits perfectly in every way. I just need to get better with it. I may remove a little of the padding in some places, and add to others. Eventually I will be able to wear it longer, and I'll learn how to move around in it to a degree where I can act ferrety. I will need to practice a lot, because FurFright is right around the corner. Gotta boost my endurance!
Other fun facts about the suit:
-- I look out through the mouth. Deez and I discussed a variety of ways to make the head and neck. He even went as far as making a long neck at first, but it didn't work out. I'd have been looking out from the neck, and the whole thing would have been a nightmare to maneuver. The way it is now allows me good maneuverability, and a ferrety neck can be seen from the side. There's just a conflict of my wanting to look at things vs. wanting to tilt the head down so the ferret's eyes can look at people more directly. I was prepared for this, and I'll work it out.
-- The eye textures are interchangeable. They can be removed from the inside and replaced with others to give a different appearance. I look forward to taking a stab at making a few of my own in the future.
-- The nose is squishy and soft. Honk honk!
-- The fur is incredibly soft
I'm sorry for only posting this one photo for now. I promise to post more soon so you can get a look from other angles.

Yes, very good advice. Tomorrow I plan to make a few adjustments to the padding, and fiddle around with the eye textures a bit.
I'm going to take a day or two before I get into the suit again, though. I'm taking antibiotics that are turning my stomach inside out, and I've been very weak from not being able to hold down much food. It was kind of risky to get in it today, but I couldn't help myself.

FIRST Law of fursuiting: NEVER Fursuit when you're sick or injured. Trust me. First time I tried suiting I wore a suit and had jeans a t-shirt underneath (I didn't know any better) I only suited for around 30 minutes... well.. I had severe heat exhaustion and I was very dehydrated / borderline shock. The person that put me in the suit asked me if I wanted to keep going and I told her hell no. I was smart. If I would have continued i'd prolly not be here today.
i dont thnak i cod ever wear a furr sout do to i have heat problem's!!!! i go thow hell in the somer i overheat all the time and get sick! i freek people out in the winter cose it can be 20 below zero and iam overley hot lol.ive had too deal more than 1's with a suacen wear i was out in a bliznred at 20 below+ and more or lass naked a the time and did not get cold lol.iam not joking i had to go get some 1 out of a snow bank and did not have time to pot much of aneything on i had bin in the bath at the time.
Maaaaybe... maybe not. Things like that are getting so damned cheap now. :) Especially with open-source for the software. The rest is relatively cheap hardware... even the computer running it all could be based on a relatively cheap used Android phone guts--preferably one with a camera already built in to scan the video. The funniest thing about that is that you could even use it to make cell phone calls from the suit. Hah!
After Rurik, the first ferr character that really captures what makes a ferr a ferr.
You'll be seeing Rurik at furfright, by the way, so go chase his tail or something.
(As for performance, the best advice I can give is that it's better to give a great performance for 10 minutes than a slow, lumbering one for an hour. There are suiters out there that make it their credo to spend as much time as possible in suit during a con. They are near-universally terrible performers and they also smell horrible. Don't be them.)
