Hensley's Character List for Skin to Scales Part 1
Hello everyone, I will say and state this again before you proceed any further. I like to give my characters icons so I can use them as quick reference sheets. I feel it's easier to write down and create a character once you get a good look at their face. Skin to Scales has so many different personalities and people coming from different backgrounds that it can be rough keeping track of them all. So that's why I make icons for most of the important characters who are in the setting. Some don't have icons yet, and some I still have old versions back from 2020 I still use in case a character gets updated or not. Here you will still see several characters from previous and even upcoming sheets as their designs got updated or I improved as an artist.
Another thing I want to say and give a thank you to my many co-writers who help me work on the setting whenever I have free time. That being DuckPuncher (who I usually refer to as Varik), Malbutorious, Rodney (Who won't stop changing his name, so I'll forever call him Rodney to his dismay), ArtisticBulbmin, and Whitegroth. Mal always helps me out with the mythology side of things, Varik helps me write the faceless side of things, Rodney helping out with evolution and goblin lore, Charles and his crew that he's written in as well as engineering designs and Whitegroth helping expand out the technological side of the setting.
With that out of the way, let me introduce you to this batch of characters. I will tell the arc that they were introduced in, if they perished and are no longer part of the current timeline of the setting, who they are, the likes and giving a small biography on each. I'll only be giving out breadcrumbs and the need-to-know information for now.
Thank you for reading, you are all truly wonderful.
Doctor Love: Introduced in Boars of War: She's a repurposed and redesigned Love-Bot from after the A.I War. She's the main character behind getting together the Boars of War team. She's a merchant, she's a scientist, she's an engineer, and she even creates comics in her free time. The most important thing to know is that she's an A.I who's been on the run from the Plantaran Republic for hundreds of years. Some say she's an Assault Bot who simply transcended her purpose while others theorize that she's simply a God A.I remnant. She usually helps fund the main team and even creates new inventions for them to try out on the field.
Love-Bot Assault Unit: Introduced in Cyber Arc: Remnant robots from the great A.I war that once plagued Cycle 10. These soldiers were created by the Church of the Mute God, a bunch of dogmatic religious soldiers who made robots specifically to "Spread God's Love" Who knew that would involve them assimilating everything in sight and to create more of themselves. The religious group is gone, but the dogmatic machines still remain and can be found all throughout the galaxy. Thomza does not take any responsibility for what had happened or what was done in his name. He can only hope to move forward and dispel any of these religious cretins as they do not even recognize their own god.
A.G.N.A.R: Introduced in Fading Embers: A God A.I who seemingly crash landed on Planet Materia many years ago. Being stranded in space for maybe 30 or more as his entire empire fell beneath him. That a Plantaran would crash an entire capital ship into a hive world to end his domain and rule. However, the beast managed to survive as he would be constantly feeding on scraps and those who wondered into his crashed spaceship until he met Huntley. The two would seemingly fuse together to become both man and machine. His days of ruling an empire are over and instead chooses to walk alongside the race he once hated so much.
Derick: Introduced in Fading Embers: One of the members of Huntley's mercenary crew. A swordsman with an affinity for water and even betrayal. He would betray Huntley in his journey twice in a row before finally succumbing to his own guilt. He now continues to be in his group and has a strange cat named Walter. The two will constantly bicker and fight as he is also haunted by a man named "Ghetto Knight." He is just thankful he has car insurance.
Joffery: Introduced in Fading Embers: Another member of Huntley's mercenary crew. A Plantaran soldier who was once a prisoner after misconduct in the military. He now travels alongside Huntley with bow and spear in hand. Later he would find himself with a Fruit Kobold of a wife and living alongside her happily.
Gramble: Introduced in Ultrinian Arc: One of the Goblins who used to live in the town of Dlobok before moving into Bayshore. He is to be noted to be one of Thomza's friends and lives in most of the trash cans throughout the town. Creating massive trash tunnels and putting together whatever junk he can find. Like most goblins he does not play along well with the rest of his species.
Mr. Bahumat (Fobos): Introduced in Creation of the Universe: One of Thomza's sons alongside Deimos who was thrown out of the nest for quote on quote "being an extremely fat and lazy wyvern." He demanded that he went out and do something with his life as he lives in the shadow of his brother. Eventually he would meet up with Huntley and... Violently try and attack him. Somehow, somewhere down the line they became friends as Huntley gave him the name "Mr. Bahumat" and not even realizing he had a divine wyvern on his hand as... The Wyvern refused to talk at first until they eventually met back up with Thommy Boy.
Nobert: Introduced in Ultrinian Arc: Nobert is a Fruit Kobold who always seemingly hits hard times. First being shown off as a genius inventor who creates everything out of wood... and being saved by Captain PiK multiple times as his inventions would usually go up in smoke and flame. It is to be noted that Nobert is king of his tribe and his multiple wives who act closer to bodyguards
Maggey: [Information Retracted]
Sarah Foreman: [Information Retracted, rewrite inbound. The icons are also old and the very first versions of them.]
Hunter Star Spine: Introduced in Boars of War: Hunter Star Spine is one of the only superheroes of his setting. Born and raised in a laboratory only to be thrown into the line of combat as a soldier at an extremely young age. Abandoning his post to leave the Boars of War, meeting up with Caroline and then even sparring against an otherworldly horror known as the Offspring. A skinwalker or wendigo in nature as he cannot consider himself Human and after his father's passing became a champion of the pillars. He is a mere mortal man who has taken down gods and shook the universe to its core. A member of the Star Family, PiK's best friend, caring father and husband, he's got a lot on his belt. After the fall of a council member by his hand he was then known from thereabout as the Ragnarök.
Shattering Star: Introduced in Council of Chaos: One of Hunter's alternates or also known as one of Hunter's siblings. A member of the star family and before the universe collapsed in on itself, he was known for his extreme military prowess. Raging war and setting his eyes on the entire conquest of the galaxy. However, it was halted whence his very timeline collapsed and it was forcefully merged with the rest of the main casts. His spark of conquest has been long burnt out and on closer inspection one may notice he is of Faceless origin. That his universe's Caroline has apparently fused into him. He apparently now owns a flower shop.
Horatio and Cheshire Star: Introduced in Council of Chaos: Once again two characters from a separate timeline. Just because they're from an alternate timeline does not mean much though. They come from a universe where Captain PiK (or known as Actaeon in their universe) betrayed the party to work for the Mimins who were ravaging the Fruit Kobold home world instead of being their savior. Heartbroken and watching this betrayal play out they decided to head off to a distant primitive world where they became old school fantasy adventurers. However, once the timelines collapsed, they soon became pit lords in Ballos' fighting arenas. They still sometimes have a hard time forgiving Actaeon for what he had done and keep their distance.
Caroline Star: Introduced in Boars of War: Caroline or also known as Zangi was once a courier of a death world. That is of course until she met up with Hunter Star on one of their missions. Getting a ticket out of the death world she used to once call home before a faceless infestation began to hive and ravage it. She was morphed and changed, but still somehow saved by Doctor Love and her group of scientist. Her name Zangi vanished, and she was reborn anew. She would become part of the specialized assassin unit of Captain PiK's army and one of his main commanders.
Eldrick Bistalle: Introduced in Creation of the Universe: The son of Varan who had traveled with Thomza in a dying universe. Helping fight back against Maxwell and allowing it to start anew before vanishing for a period of time. He's a swordsman and a mercenary for hire and somehow found himself in the Boars of War. Always having a competing attitude with Hunter and this jealousy would rage on for many years. He would eventually become King of the untamed ocean and marry Avisa, one of Thomza's offspring.
Freya Materia: Introduced in Ultrinian War: Raider, Fruit Kobold, and even worse a master of the Faceless Arts. She would help assist Thomza in his takeover and fight against the Fallen Stars. Becoming a prophet in her own right as she wishes to make up for what she's done. Claiming that she is the very reason the undead are restless on Planet Materia. That her old mercenary group she was once part of on a mad quest for revenge are gone because of her. She wishes to repent for what she's done and attempt to rise up and become a hero.
Commander Proto: Introduced in Twin Souls: Proto is the first protagonist of the new cycles that saw the light of day. Being an old bodyguard for a derelict station he would find himself surrounded by new and mysterious creatures known as "Mandrakes." They would eventually run and crush him down, converting him into one of their own. Here he would find himself to eventually becoming a commander, a scientist, and even one of the Pillars of the Universe. This would be through a great trial and turn of events to destroy a rogue entity known simply as "Mother."
Henrietta Star: Introduced in Ultrinian War: This character is to be known as Hunter Star's daughter. Hunter married Marian and Henry and somehow found himself having a stepdaughter who was... Older than him. The two would at first have a rocky start until it would eventually bloom into a more reinforced relationship down the line. Once hating the man and his stupid antics before seeing him as a father figure. She is a Knight of the Pillars and a holy paladin of Ballos. Hunter isn't seen without his daughter by his side as much anymore, and he believes she is a true heir of the star. A side note is that she was apparently born as a Male Fruity but transitioned down the line thanks to her support of her Stepfather.
Huntley Embers: Introduced in Fading Embers: From burger flipper to legendary hero, he is one of the survivors of an old universe that suffered the Wrath of Maxwell. Failing to defeat and harm Maxwell he was banished for a near endless amount of time until he found himself waking up on Planet Materia. Here he would meet with the main cast and even start up the group of the white wyvern mercenaries. His friends constantly call him "The Wall" as he's a punisher tank and likes to soak up damage instead of dodging out of the way.
Riflebold Squad: Introduced in The Mimin War: The very backbone of Captain PiK's army. Mostly made up of Copper Fruit Kobolds armed with rifles and whatever else they can get their hands on. Fantastic at building trenches, great at taking enemies out from afar and they come in massive numbers. They're practically good at everything but are masters of none without much specialization like the other units in his army. However, they are abundant and are waiting for the next cigarette break or orders coming in.
Dang, if you got to the end of this? You have my thanks! I worked really hard on this and can't wait to do some more! Have a good one everybody!
