seriously i love the old style suit, if i can be honest i welcome a murder mystery type of plot regarding this fella
like he stumbles upon the body of a worker he knew while out at a blue collar job and finds himself immersed in a life and death cat and mouse game trying to find the culprit :D

I actually kind of like that conceptually. The pipe and the boots remind me of late 19th century/early 20th century worker, while the coat makes me think of him having some kind of "status". Accidents and "accidents" happened in European factory districts. I don't know the character's backstory or 'world', but as dark as that theme is, I can see it being an interesting art piece.

Maybe some unscrupulous backalley rapscallions jump him to rob him of his belongings. A thorough pat-down from the fiendish thieves might prove a wee bit ticklish for Clay.
Or, maybe some shenanigan's at work. I dont know Clay's job. Is he a factory foreman giving a training on work safety (to which everyone is ignoring him at), or perhaps he is an engineer, tinkering with a steam engine or something.

It's nice to see Clay again from your older drawings. With him being a police detective and his clothing style suggesting the early 20th century I do have a simple idea.
Clay could have a suspected gangster whom is proving to be very tough and won't talk at all under interrogation. While being searched earlier though the gangster had shown signs of being ticklish. With the boots and socks removed and the application of a feather the gangster might become a lot more cooperative.
