He is a Stripped Hyenna species, a lesser known type of hyenna than the usual Spotted one of the Lion King franchise. It was the original Hyenna known in Middle Eastern and Western world before the African Spotted species were better known, and later became much popular, totally letting this original hyenna got pretty much forgotten untill the Beastars got to notice them a bit more again.
