There's no shelter for a dragon. Nor do we seek one. It is my kin's way to brave the elements, as we were made for a world in its primordial shape.
Here I rest, amidst stonework brought to ruin. Craft of the sentients, reclaimed by nature.
Wings aching from the struggle against the wrath of the wind. An unrelenting gale teaches a lesson of humility, even to the mighty.
In the absence of heat, I take in the cold. Soothing. Calming, like the endless tapping of raindrops against the membranes of my wings.
The water remains in motion, dripping from the scales, flowing through my soaked mane. Once I close my eyes... I can feel its embrace. It feels as if it shapes me. Like a phoenix reborn in fire, my mind is restored to clarity in the rainstorm, caressed by its touch.
The rainstorm. My element. As if it was meant to be.
I endure it. I bask in it. Bask in the faint light, in a desolate part of the world shrouded by mist. Despite the soggy mane, a peculiar sense of dignity stirs within.
Grasping the decrepit stones, my mind wanders to the tales of hominids. Some see tears of their gods in the rain. A blessing of fertility, rite of renewal, a cleansing force. The Lifebringer. To me, it is... Solace.
I grimace slightly in what would be called a dragon's poor imitation of a smile. The darkened world behind the watery shroud, the steady tapping, even the howling winds... It is all beautiful.
This absolute beauty of an impression was delivered to me - and in turn, to you - by none other than the fantastically skilled
Isvoc! That's what she calls a speedpaint, mind you. I am in awe of the background, perfectly capturing the desired ambience. An amazing job on the wet mane and the foliage, as well. Not to mention the rain particles and subtle splashing effects that make it all the more convincing. An emotional expression and eye candy alike.
The ramblings are something I add as per usual. One of my inspirations was the "God is in the rain" scene from the movie V for Vendetta. A powerful one.

Arcaizen, the soaked, blue-maned recluse, is mine.

I do not seek shelter from the rain, for it is my desire to be at peace with it.
To be comfortable in its embrace.
Only then can I reclaim myself.I grimace slightly in what would be called a dragon's poor imitation of a smile. The darkened world behind the watery shroud, the steady tapping, even the howling winds... It is all beautiful.
Through ruin, storm and darkness, my soul will thrive - if only I know my place.~***~This absolute beauty of an impression was delivered to me - and in turn, to you - by none other than the fantastically skilled

I'm going to drop a link here as this piece strikes me as an embodiement of the video it links to. It is so interesting when a place is abandoned. To experience the history it absorbed it a solemn encounter.
