Commission for Eric Duffy. His two characters, an otter lady and young bat boy relaxing on a bed and entertaining themselves with their favorite pastimes. The shading didn't turn out exactly as I'd hoped but I am still happy with the over all warm feeling which is exactly what I wanted. ^^

For something you're not as confident with, you sure did an incredible job on the lighting! Love all the little details, it really makes this picture *work*.
I daresay this is your best recent piece!
My only critique (you're one of the ones that likes critique, right?) is to add some more differing textures- the fur/skin is handled the same as the clothing, and to a lesser degree, the sheets.

I love the feeling of the ordinary and the simple being what the focus is, that it's the little things that truly matter, that just by "being" next to each other, that's all that is needed, no expectations, no worries for that moment in time. Very warm slice of life piece. =)
You know, I took a real good look at this piece, and I actually felt that you did rather well on the lighting and shading. For instance, I think you’ve captured the upward light cone from the table lamp in the back quite accurately, in addition to the brightness of the non light-coned walls (as in the portions of the wall near the lamp shade but not in the light cone above) compared to the more ‘darkened’ walls on the far side of the room. I also felt you did very well on the lighting upon the folds of the bed sheets (shaded in the ‘trenches’, lighter on the tops) and on the characters clothing and body parts as well.
In other words, anything that the light from that lamp should logically touch seems lighted and overall seems realistically applied and believable in the visual sense. At least, that’s my opinion in the matter.
Anyways, lighting aside, I felt you also did really well on a lot of other things too. For instance, I really like how the characters turned out with their poses which seem very casual and relaxed, with a clear expression of fixed attentions towards their choice pastimes. Even the nuances of their body language, such as the otter’s tail tip flicked up and the bat’s feet – one holding a pen while the other ‘points’ so to speak – all gave this piece a bit more feeling to it.
Their clothes are nicely done with the folds and creases of their shirts and pants (even the fringes of the bat boy’s cut pants was a nice touch), their hair styles look great, their anatomy seems well done for their species, particularly the muzzle shape and webbed fingers/toes of the otter, the detail of the laptops keyboard, the books and the bedframe – Everything about this seems really, really nicely done.
Excellent work on this UV. I’m sure Eric D. must be really happy with. :)

Kay... I think it's the eye in the left side of the picture. There is no white space between the pupil and the upper eyelid, when the other eye has it, also it's positioned maximaly in the right side of the eye, when the other pupil (again) is in the middle... To sum up it looks like she has a squint (please don't hate me for that words, it's only my opinion... I just keep seeing it, can't help it ^^"). Sorry for my english, I know it's not perfect, but I hope that you understood what I meant. Still, you are a great artist (lots better than me), one of my favorites and I feel kind of stupid saying that something is wrong in your drawing...
Yeah i think I understand what you're talking about. I'll see if a minor change can be done in photoshop or some-such ^_^
Thank you hun!
And no, just because you like an image or list it as a fave doesnt mean there arnt some flaws in it. Im still very much a practicing and growing artist ^_^

not one particular source im afraid, and i dont feel im good enough yet to be of too mcuh help, but I often take photos or find some on the web , and I dont copy them but instead look at them and try to observe how the light shadows and colors work in that particular lighting. Helps me find a starting point to work from :3
