One of my favorite video games is Kingdom Hearts. In that game, a force pervading the cosmos turns people into Heartless - depriving them of their hearts (metaphorically, not the organ) and turning them into twisted, inhuman creatures that our protagonists must destroy.

But what if there's a little humanity, or at least a little curiosity and friendliness, left in the Heartless?

Here, two of my favorite species of Heartless - a Wyvern on the left, a Shadow on the right - approach each other with simple curiosity. A snoot boop may yet result. The backdrop is my attempt at rendering the End of the World, the final dungeon in the first game and one of the more beautiful video game locations ever.

On a technical level I am PLEASED with this piece. Multiple light sources! Ambient nondirectional light! Sharp color changes! No line art! This piece may be the most technically proficient drawing I've ever done.
