I have a fear of caterpillars, so when I come across monstrous tomato hornworms I tend to freak out a bit. Ok, a lot. This was a postcard I sent to my bf.

Ugh! My dad used to stomp on cut worms and stuff.. i ge tthe feeling this might have contributed to developing my fear of them. I just remember thinking that was really really unpleasant. I can't think of a single event that really made me terrified of them though.

I *love* these guys. XD My sister actually works with sphinx moths and hornworms in a lab. In captivity, where they don't eat tomatoes, they're blue! She feeds them, moves them to boxes to pupate, cleans out the moth box, etc. Heh.
I admit they're kind of freaky. But since I've handled them in the lab they don't scare me anymore.
