I'd definitely say they fit! I'm really hopeful that Game Freak takes the time to really dive into local customs and folklore when designing the native Pokémon for the new region -- Fuecoco's apparent reference to the Festa de Coca and the Cucafera gives me hope that they will!
Same. And maybe it's my stomach talking, but I'm hoping they continue the recent trend of featuring regional cuisine from the real-world countries and cultures they draw inspiration from -- I personally know folks who'd riot if there isn't at least one Poké-paella in the game.
