Imagine a large cactus needle percing your eye, would not have been pleasant. Now Imagine if said cactus needle was shoot at your eye with the power from a bow.

Or just play dead space 2. Not the same percing and hurts a lot more if you mess up.

That analogy doesn't fully work since one: Cactus needles are either hollow or spongy so they don't have a lot of wind resistance, so firing one from a bow would not be feasible. Two: cactus needles are not like arrows, they don't just have a single point, they have many barbs that stick, so even if his eye was closed it would latch on and be potentially painful that way. And three: you're comparing two different scales, this would be more the equivalent of someone fashioning a bow from paper clips and rubber bands due to the difference in size, so "the power from a bow" would be significantly less to someone larger, and we know it's not much to him since the eyelids are the thinnest skin on the body and still reflected it. So the arrow more likely would have either been deflected due to the roundness of the eye or just get a bit stuck in the gooey outer layer of the eyeball made to protect the vital parts. So I stand by my assertion that it would just be annoying and not really dangerous. Granted, he is panicked at this stage so I don't blame him for retaliating in the way he did.

Well the only other thing that comes to mind to use is a tooth pick but that would be too big to use as a size comparison so a cactus needle was my go to. The object properties were not really relavent in what I was trying to point out, only the size. a small tack could be the same, either way the eye is increadably soft and is not solid. Its more like a very firm ball of fluid. A sharp object directly in it would be far more than an annoyance. An arrow can range between 350 to 1000 grains. Yes his eyelid might stop somthing that big, maybe, but if an arrow went directly into his eye with nothing stopping it, there is no doubt it would do some damage. Keep in mind an arrow does not have a problem burrowing itself into wood, a fine membrane would not fair much better, and judging from the panel that would have been a direct hit so it would not deflect enough to negate much of that energy.

Fair enough, I can concede to that.

This masked drifter at the last panel is probably thinking, "Huh? What happened to the bloodthirsty monster that he was a few minutes ago and that killed a lot of innocent people?"
