Here is an unlikely pairing, one between a Kind and a Dwarven.
Racism isn't necessarily strong among the Kinde, only in that the races tend to stay with their own except in large cities and war groups. Among those the Dwarves are the most isolated, their society is unique and separate from most of what the other two groups would share. For this reason this kind of coupling is not looked down upon, it is simply uncommon.
These two probably served as warriors together, as that is the most common way for this sort of love to emerge. Love starting at booming laughter and a humble sort of light between them that would blossom into something real. It is not uncommon for couplings of all kinds to emerge on the battlefield, many of the Kinde find themselves married to the battlefield and little else so the comfort of another's arm's looks inviting, even when the enemy presses at the door.
These two actually have a bit of back story, so I'll give a bit of it. The Kind is named Daniel and was born into a upper class family of warriors, giving him the name "Daniel Battlecry." When it became evident that his crest would never be anything of beauty, and he would therefore never find an upper class mate, he was trained and thrown into battle at a very young age. Daniel, being the eldest, has claims to the family name and lands, but humble is he, and he never speaks of his family. The Dwarven is called Marthr and was born into a family of stone workers, giving her the name of "Marthr Stonemage." She is little more than peasant by Kinde standards, poor but good with her materials. When Marthr showed signs of being good with a weapon her parents sent her off to be trained for the battlefield. It was in the open lands these two met, set in the same formation, and it was there these two fell in love.
Quote is from "the Great Teaching" which I am currently working on writing.
