(Another short update)

After easily defeating my rival Blarg once again, I took a trip over to Iron Island where I helped Riley fight off the Team Galactic grunts. I didn't catch any new Pokemon there as they were all either duplicates or evolved forms of Pokemon I already have, but I did end up finding a Shiny Stone there which meant that I could finally evolve Jared into Roserade! I received the egg from Riley which ended up hatching into a female Riolu that I named Mercury. After making my way through Canalave Gym, I came face to face with Gym Leader Byron, whose team Zane easily took down with his Flame Wheel and Close Combat attacks. I love my big fire monke. :D
