I still can't get these guys outta my mind.
Anyway, it seems hype for the pilot has sorta died down now that it was made public, as there is barely anybody outside of the furry community talking about it. No reviews, no reaction videos, no TV Tropes page, no fan-made dubs in different languages, nothing to the same level of Hazbin/Helluva did when they premiered (although they also springed a controversy regarding VivziePop and her past, but let's not talk about it). The only YouTube videos that aren't from the creator's channel are for the composer of the short's soundtrack.
Here in FA isn't any better. Just compare the amount of fanart TRaTR has gotten prior to its public release to right now. It's very few, but I'm surprised that nobody that was hyped for the short (
for example) didn't make much of a fuss after its premiere aside from commenting on the creator's announcement of the YouTube release. Aside from me (seriously, I need help), only
has done anything for it after its premiere, and it was only because it was part of an art trade with me. So I'm the most active fan around, which isn't that bad for franchises that have been obscure for quite some time (Triple z and Neighbors from Hell), but for a pilot that might become a full series in the future, it's not very good, since it will look like there are no interest for the majority of people.
Maybe I'm just rambling. I can live with the rest of my life if Galactic: KND continues to only be an animatic forever, since we still have the OG show, but that's not the case for Tales from Scorchwater Valley, since we only have "Breathing Space" and the future projects from the creator to keep us occuppied while the short gathers an audience. Patience was never my strong point. I'm not gonna hold a gun or something in everybody's heads to force them to watch AND like TRaTR, but we could at least have a little more effort when it comes to supporting projects like these. It worked for Hazbin/Helluva, why not here?
Rant over. So, about this drawing, what's a furry franchise without Gijinkas? It seems kinda clichéd (and ethically questionable if the toxic side of Twitter is anything to go by) to give black skin to a gijinka (even canon ones, such as Helluva Boss' Vortex), but it seemed to fit Niles pretty well, specially since he is voiced by Richie Ammons; For Red it's kinda of an inside joke, since he confessed to his friend at the end of the short about his nudity (as well as a recent skit by his VA, Adler the Eagle. Don't ask, just check it out). I might make an updated version of his gijinka with clothing in the future (scarves and pilot headgear, what'dya think?); Of course, I couldn't leave Sam out of the question, but since they are unhatched in the short, in this version they are already born (around 3 months old), although I'm not sure if a desert suffering a drought is the best place for them to live, even with two adult caretakers. I also decided to make them of ambiguous gender: while Red referred to the hatchling as male in the short, there is the possibility that it will be either male of female when it hatches (Considering that "Sam" is a gender-neutral nickname), specially if they plan to have female representation for the main cast, but that's just my estimate. Also gave them a red pacifier, since it is a gijinka of a "redbill" after all.
That was a mouthful. I apologize for any inconsistences on my speech. They are also not my strong point.
Anyway, if you really want to support the creator of these characters (:alexanderhenderson:), check out his twitter: https://twitter.com/ArtOfAlexH and YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA.....RraVbnrQ1B4P7w
Now, I'll try to focus in other stuff besides The Rhino and The Redbill, but I'm not making any promises.
