This is the Target exclusive Entry Grade 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam American Type. :) This version of the RX-78-2 made a brief appearance in the first episode of Gundam Breaker Battlogue, and is done up in a really nice American flag color scheme. This kit is exclusively sold at Target, and retails there for $9.99. This kit has been a bit difficult to get in some areas, but luckily, you can also order it from Target’s website. I actually got really lucky and found the last one of these on the shelf at my local Target. I’m the type who checks the whole row of boxes on the shelf, and that paid off for me since this was hidden all the way behind all of the other Gunpla on the shelf. Always check at the back of the shelves, guys. You can find all kinds of stuff that appears to be sold out.

As many have noticed, this kit is just a recolored version of the Entry Grade RX-78-2, however, this one comes with some sticker decals to apply. These Entry Grade kits are designed so they don’t red paint, but me being me, went and added paint to mine anyway. I painted the flat red eyes metallic red so they catch light better, painted the vulcans on the head, filled in the vents on the head, painted the vents on the front of the legs grey, and added some metallic blue to the scope on the beam rifle since I thought it would be a nice custom touch.

Assembling this kit is very simple, and can easily be done in one or two short sit downs with minimal model building supplies needed. Being a recolor of the Entry Grade 1/144 RX-78-2, this kit holds no surprises unless you count the sticker decals. My only problem with this kit is the same problem I had with the regular Entry Grade RX-78-2, which is that this kit does not come with blades for the beam sabers. This is easily remedied by just borrowing the beam saber blades from another one of you 1/144 scale kits, but it’s still annoying that it doesn’t come with them.

All in all, I REALLY dig the American flag theme of this kit. It just looks really nice, and will stand out really well among your other RX-78-2s in your collection, or even just by itself. And it’s pretty good quality for a $10 kit. I highly recommend picking it up! :)
