Side view of the open jaw. Interesting note: when people think of the canines on any animal, they usually imagine the top canines overlapping the bottom ones. Not so. Its the bottom ones that jut out and overlap the top.

I completely agree with that, plaster does tend to yank on any facial hair. For me, I made sure I glopped Vaseline it on my eyelashs and eyebrows. For you, what you do is put vasiline ALL over the face-especially any facial hair-and cover the beard with a few strips of saran wrap. It'll stick to the Vaseline and the plaster wont touch the beard.
The mask itself? No; you can scrub that down with soap and water (just don't stick it in the dishwasher on heat; resin doesn't like extremely high temperatures) Once its furred-depending on how well you did the seams and how firmly its glued on-you could just hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Resin is tough, and since it's a type of plastic it doesn't absorb smells like more porous material (fabric, wood, etc) tend to do. A spray of scented disinfectant on the inside right after wearing should keep down smells.
