Frelen-min (Admiral Second Rank) k'Daridh is the commander of the Ninth Cruiser Division of the Kashlanin Imperial Fleet, based at Wangguan. The forward basing means that her division and the rest of the fleet based there are only eight light-years from Sol System. Believing in leading from the front, k'Daridh was injured when her ship came under attack at Xinjia, losing her left arm and sustaining damage to her face, left eye, left ear and brain.

Regeneration therapy and morphosurgery have taken care of some of her injuries, but she refuses to have her arm regrown or to undo the structural damage to her brain that has given her bouts of epilepsy.
