While future Spyro got his child self's short term memory erased so he wouldn't remember any of this, he had to give up on getting him grounded for life.
After all, he didn't remember his transgression, it would seem unfair for him.
Besides, he didn't remember a punishment either.
He still told the adult dragons once back in the present (or his past, whatever you prefer), and still had a bad mood about it.

Working on the very last preparations lifted his mood.
Nothing like swell taller, bulkier and stronger than everyone else, lift rocks bigger than you with one hand, and uproot trees effortlessly (to make room for more tables and chairs) to cheer you up.
