''Tropical Ruins'' by Lay
I was staying at my grandma in Sittard last week, and I drew this piece depicting some abandoned ruins on a deserted tropical island.
🌾 As always, I tried my best to integrate some depth into it by drawing the second building as if you were looking at it from behind a dune, and the main building being front in center, and seen from a lower angle -- as if you were a fox, or a panther, or a snake, or some other native animal living on this big, forgotten island, hiding from behind the itchy, tall, sweet-smelling marram grass. A palm tree has grown in an arch right around what looks like a hole in one of the green-covered walls that make up the remains of an ancient village, an extinct society of times gone by. A bit farther away, another palm tree has managed to grow upright after creeping through the wall of the other ruined building. The sky is colored a fascinating mix of bright purple and a reddish orange, indicating the end of the day has arrived. Maybe you can make your way into one of the ruins, and create a resting place for the night, using the marram grass as a mattress or cover to protect you from the cold night air.
