This was something I had been meaning to get to for literal years now, a character I had created and made for my close friend,  SDragon01, to kinda act as a companion character to Wing, as Sacred is to Kye. I enjoyed the idea of a Dragonite paired up with a Yoshi, even when the closest comparison you can make with them is mostly in the face.

I tried looking back through conversations of Skype and Discord to try and find it, but the best I could go back was 2016, so I have little clue of how old this guy is and when I made him, although thankfully I recall most of the details from the day he was introduced. It was a little daunting to draw a Dragonite again when I still hadn't gotten the body down quite right yet, but that's how you get better.

Anyhow, this is Excalibur.

Story
His Majesty, the Fourth, King Excalibur Dragon-Knight, is one of the current rulers of Aunov, the Kingdom of Light, on the planetoid Ioa. He currently serves alongside his husband Sacred (@SDragon01) and his close friends Kye and Wing. Together with their families, they live just across from the capital in a 30-story-tall tower. His birthday is November 5, 1985, making him 35 years old (as of this upload).

Born as Excalibur Knight, not much is known about his beginnings, more specifically his time growing up as a Dratini or Dragonair; he was most well known for being a Dragonite, and one who got around. Excalibur was not one to settle anywhere for extended periods of time, rather he enjoyed roaming, exploring, adventuring, discovering new places and meeting new people. He found pleasure in essentially wandering aimlessly, with nothing but a sword on his back to help defend himself if necessary.

Early in his travels, he met Orville O'Doyle, the now High King of Aunov, during a scuffle the former was involved with; the Dragonite flew over to offer his assistance, allowing them to clear the area of enemies in little time. From that point onward, the two would become close friends, battle partners, and frequent travelers. While they split up to go their own ways a few times, both of them always seemed to find a way to come back together, even after Orville had met his future wife, Minnie.

Excalibur has had extensive experience in battle, as little as a one-on-one duel to a large ambush, a few times he's walked away victorious but in need of assistance; he's able to recover every time but some may see this as miraculous. This unfortunately caught up with him during one duel where his opponent dealt Excalibur a blow to his back with the slice of a sword, cutting his wings off of his back. The Dragonite limbed along, losing blood, but was thankfully near a village before he collapsed. He woke up days later, bandaged and in a home of that village, he was picked up by the villagers and taken in after his battle. He was in pain for a long time, he worked hard to get his strength back physically, as well as being consoled by the villagers to help his mental health, now that he could no longer fly.

This didn't stop him from traveling, he made it his mission to always stop at villages he saw to help them with their problems if there were any, and to defend them from trouble if any was brewing nearby. In between, he settled and camped on his own, scavenging the land for materials and food while he explored the world. This then brought him to a riverside, where he had decided to try and make a small home for himself, and lived there for a couple weeks. He would be surprised one day as he witnessed glass bottles floating down the river, with colorful contents inside. Curious, he stepped into the water and grasped one, noticing what seemed to be the squished contents of a red and green Yoshi, along with a tiny vial of liquid. Excalibur returned to his hut and emptied the bottle, along with using the vial as a little note was included, and then sprung to life two Yoshis, who introduced themselves as Kye and Sacred. The former had invited the latter to a voluntary Softie event, placing themselves inside a bottle to travel down the river and let themselves be picked up by someone along the way. It was a silly idea to the Dragonite as he conversed with the soon-to-be King, but Sacred was noticing some of the materials that Excalibur had displayed or stored on the walls of his hut, leading the two to become friends very quickly that they decided to explore outside together for a bit. After that, the two dinosaurs invited Excalibur to join them back home, to which he agreed.

Since their meeting, Excalibur has been reunited with his traveling friends, and grown especially close to Sacred. His Majesty the Second has since included him as part of his personal Pokémon team, but their friendship went further, causing both of them to marry and granting Excalibur the title of His Majesty the Fourth.

Personality
Excalibur is strong, brave, wise, and loyal; he will not engage in senseless fighting if he knows that there's no need for it, such as a small scuffle, and will not back down in one if he knows someone's life is at risk. He does not fight for the sport of it or for fun, he only does it if he knows someone or something is in trouble. He is incredibly polite and kind, and it can be heard in his sort of medieval way of speaking.

Despite his chivalrous nature, Excalibur can also be very playful. He shares a room with Kye, Wing, and Sacred, and while he himself is not a Softie, he enjoys playing around with Kye and Wing the most, playing squishy pranks on them and sometimes teasing Wing playfully, treating Wing as a sort of younger brother to him. He often treasures his friends, especially Kye and Wing, and adores Sacred, vowing to protect him with everything he has; he is often seen elated when Sacred becomes present to him.

Appearance & Abilities
His Majesty, the Fourth is an Ioan Dragonite, with classic orange scales and creamy yellow secondary scales that start at his upper chest and go downward all the way to his tail. This is quite uncommon among Ioan Dragonites, as most of them tend to have only one scale color, like Wing or Cherry. He is also the same variant of Ioan Dragonite as Wing, in which their anatomy is based off of which statistic of theirs is higher: Physical Attack/Defense or Special, which in this case is the former, but unlike Wing, his is significantly higher. This is due to the fact that Excalibur has constantly trained and fought through his travels, especially so after he lost his wings. Because of this, Excalibur is no longer a Flying-type and therefore is unable to know most Flying-type moves.

Excalibur's head noodles are also the same creamy yellow as his secondary scales, and his eyes are dark brown. His claws are also sharper than Wing's and almost completely white. Up close, you can also see scars and scratches from previous battles along Excalibur's body, and especially on his back, where his wings used to be.

Equipment
Finally, Excalibur wears items that were gifted to him and crafted by Sacred. He wears a long blue cloak that attaches to a shoulderguard over his right shoulder, just below that bearing the gold version of the Royal Family emblem. Underneath, he wears brown belts, one that goes up over his chest and around his left shoulder to his back and buckle into another belt that wraps around his waist; he can use these belts to hold pockets or small equipment if necessary. Not shown is his wedding ring, which he prefers to wear on his right claw as it's the side of the cloak that isn't covered by the fabric, as Excalibur wishes to make it be seen at all times.

Also crafted by Sacred is his primary weapon, Heaven's Edge. This blade has some similarities to the Royal Pride 6 in terms of general shape: Heaven's Edge replaces the Royal Pride's rounded tip with a sharper tip, and swaps some of the neutral colors of the hilt and handle, keeping the general sweeping colors of the Aunov flag on the front, and adding the emblem's signature Wings of Light to the sides. The blade itself is crafted out of sapphire, to match the color of his cloak. The sheathe is also a brushed metal material for durability and is lined with friction fittings to prevent the blade from moving about and dulling while stored away.



I was really glad to had finally been able to draw Excalibur, it was a long time coming and I've found myself really enjoying using him when I have. Ultimately though, he is a character made specifically for  SDragon01 so any additional details or changes go through him and should any come along, I will post it here as an update.
