Thanks to a couple of friends on Twitter and Discord, a running gag takes place periodically, or as early as April Fool's, and that is the welcoming of Yoshis as Koopas, and vice-versa. I wanted to participate in it, and had the intention of drawing this for some time but never got the chance to, until the topic came up again yesterday and I felt interested in drawing it.

I was just fascinated at how well the sketch came out, and it fueled my desire to want to complete it, which is what I mostly did late last night; the rest was finished this morning.

I'd like to assume this is the work of Doughshi's Rainbow Scale, allowing him to freely transform between a Yoshi and whatever forms are "stored" within it, so long as one is "registered" through physical contact. One scenario is likely through Mac, who may have stumbled from behind Doughshi and his handpaw happened to swipe the scale, causing the cookie dough dinosaur to transform into a Koopa. The Rainbow Scale then transforms into the tail, considering that Mac's own power of electricity is exemplified through his lightning bolt-shaped tail. Originally, this was going to be a streak of color in the hair, but I also wanted to follow a design mentality of being in a unique location on the body each time.

Doughshi's Koopa Troopa form is a result of transferring most aspects and details of his original Yoshi shape into a Koopa, which means that at a glance, there really isn't much different, likely thanks to the skin tone being identical instead of traditional yellow. Additionally, this Koopa form loses a bit of height, so he's shorter than he normally should be, as well as a little lighter, this to the assumption of Koopas being able to slip into shells. This means that Doughshi is faster while in Koopa form, and he has some natural durability, making it a little harder to squish him. Perhaps in the right place and time, he might be able to pass as a Koopa and get some nifty training...
