You know, thinking on it... Pichu was a great choice for this comic really.
A) It's adorable
B) Being a little baby Pokémon comes with its own awkwardness and we've seen this in your little notebook pages where the new chu mistakenly refers to larger Pokémon as elders
C) It evolves through happiness. Mouse-boy is going to have to start enjoying life as a Pichu soon or they'll be stuck as one until they do.
It's poetry. The story practically writes itself.
