Ninetales [Pokémon] by Lay
I decided on continuing my trend of uploading pictures of drawings of Pokémon. This time, it represents a gorgeous pure Fire type whose Base Form can be found inside the abandoned Pokémon Mansion on Cinnabar Island, South-West Kanto -- It's the FOX POKéMON, キュウコン Kyukon, or in English -- Ninetales!
🔥🦊 This Pokémon has a special place in my heart. It is on my Kalos team in X Version and it looks so powerful, yet wise and majestic. I also have a Vulpix on my Ruby Version, but as of writing this description, I just can't seem to evolve it, even though I trained it up to Level 100. Like I said earlier, Vulpix and Ninetales' original appearances were inside the Cinnabar Island Pokémon Mansion in the Kanto region, and this South-West island contains a big volcano; that did erupt in-between the events of Gen 1 and Gen 2; but prior to this catastrophe, it was home to the earlier mentioned Pokémon Mansion, as well as the Fire type Gym Leader, Blaine. I always thought these two time periods were really interesting when put in chronological order, because it really makes you wonder what happened to the group of human residents that lived on the island.
This drawing is based off Ninetales' Japanese sprite from Pocket Monsters Red & Green, and I love this one way better than most of its later Gen 1 sprites for some reason. Its Japanese sprite brilliantly accomplishes its purpose of showing off all of the Pokémon species' different features, like its signature Nine Tails, but also its fox- or Kitsuné-like inspirations which stem from the Japanese folklore of the Kitsuné -- a ghostly fox with nine golden tails that are said to bring infinite happiness to the person that finds one of said tails which the creature may have lost. This is, in my opinion, a really clever and interesting concept to base a Pokémon off of.
Now yes, I do admit it wasn't exactly as easy replicating Ninetales' signature Nine Tails as I thought it was. But in the end, I am happy with the end result, despite my parents telling me that I should redo this drawing if I want it to actually look good, and that it is something actual famous artists like Rembrandt and Van Gogh did to improve THEIR works -- but let me tell you this: It is indeed important to improve yourself at a certain thing you like to do; but if YOU are happy with how something YOU made turned out, than that is the thing that matters most. And I am very satisfied with how this pencil art of my favorite fire Kitsuné turned out.
Comment if you wish to give me advice or just your personal opinion on the matter, or if you simply want to let me know if you like how this piece turned out the way it did, because I would love to hear your opinion on this drawing with a burning passion! 🔥🤣

Haven't you seen the Japanese sprites before? They're pretty dope! I like this Ninetales one, but some my other favorites are Meowth's sprite, in which it poses like a Lucky Cat -- an item that in summary, in Japanese tradition, is said to bring good luck; Abra, who looks almost terrifying in the Japanese version; Dragonite (in Japanese known as Kairyu), who actually looks very cute, as supposed to the international more serious look; and a fan-favorite, Eevee, who looks angry and ready to fight.
I am very interested in differences between Japanese and International releases of games, and Pokémon is one of the main reasons I became so fascinated with this subject. Series like Castlevania and in some cases even Super Mario, are being censored by their creators! Crazy, right? 😮
