As the Autobots and their allies recover from their recent battle, Starscream makes plans of his own, while Jetfire is told of a grave danger to Cybertron and all its people.

Autobots featured in both versions of this installment are Jetfire, Scattorshot, Sideswipe, Red Alert, Optimus Prime, Vector Prime and Smokescreen. Appearing in the re-edit but not the original is Kup. Making their first appearances in the re-edit are Nightbeat and Hound. Mentioned but not appearing in the re-edit are Hardhead and Gasket.

The only Decepticon featured in both versions of this installment is Starscream. Making her first appearance in the re-edit is Fracture. Mentioned but unseen are Wildrider, Ransack, Crumplezone, and Straxus.

Mini-Cons appearing in both versions are Longarm, Sparkplug, the Destruction Team (Dualor, Buzzsaw, Drill Bit), Liftor, and Refute. Appearing in the re-edit but not the original are Blackout and the Land Military Team (Wreckage, Bonecrusher, Knock-Out).

The only human character to appear in either version is Diana Masters, though Miranda Jones, Kicker Jones, and Sally Jones are mentioned in both.
