Maybe I'm seeing more than what's really there, or seeing what I want to see, but look how they set up their weapons. I guess the bear stuck his saber in first, and then the human did. But placing the spear like this only complicates the act of taking up the sword. I only see two options for that to make sense: 1) The human is playing a prank or friendly taunting the bear. 2) Weapons linked like this is a symbol or metaphor of the romantic interest between the two of them. Weapons placed side by side would be friendship, but intertwined... I think it's love.
