I have not encountered this problem, but I had a similar technical problem when a payment was not passed due to a technical error. In this case it helped to create a separate publication on boosty with a one-time payment, the customer was able to pay through it.

In your case, I can suggest that the problem is not in boosty, but in paypal, maybe it is overloaded.

A little note I want to add for those who'd like to use PayPal as the payment method for Boosty!
The method never appeared for me until I logged in on the desktop version of the site (either by visiting it with a computer or tablet, or by enabling the Show Desktop Version function on my mobile's browser).
Me and a friend who I was trying to pay her for a commission were struggling to find why it wasn't there on my side until we stumbled upon that. 😄

Yep! There wasn't and still isn't any for me. Like I was seeing the scrollbar appear but it was full width, meaning there wasn't anywhere to scroll.
It really required me to get in desktop mode for it.

1. Заказчик оплатил мне YCH через донат 8 645 ₽. В "Цели" сумма осталась той же, но когда я перешёл в раздел "Мои доходы", а затем в "Статистику", в разделах "На текущем балансе" и "Всего заработано" сумма была меньше, а именно 7 780,5 ₽. Неужели настолько большая комиссия?

For those using PayPal:

Sometimes it'll go into a "Sorry there was an error, try again". Sometimes it works if you wait - sometimes it doesn't.

But one good way to do it? Remove Paypal from your payment - then add it again while paying. this works every time for me.

This message appears if you're subscribing to an author (like on Patreon), in which case every month a specific amount will be automatically deducted
If you donate to a goal, it won't say automatic payments.

I'm getting the same issues on both my phone and multiple different browsers, both regular and incognito mode. The bank card just won't take it, it always returns an error within a second telling me to try again, same thing if I try to add the card to my payment methods on my account in general. PayPal is the opposite, it takes all the information but it hangs and stalls with an endlessly loading circle and never proceeds further.

I've got my phone and e-mail verified on there but I'm still having no luck at all.

There are two possible solutions
1. Try to pay by VPN, but directly through the card, not through PayPal, because PayPal is not very fond of VPN
2. Ask your artist to write to support to lower the threshold of the anti-fraud system, it helped me with some customers.

idk. when i tried to pay via paypal 400 usd rn is like 26500 rub, so when i paid 26500 rub it tried to pull 486 usd off my card and got itself flagged for fraud. it also doesnt even show how much its trying to change paypal in usd so guessing the correct rub amount to send is impossible. and if its tacking the commission on, 10% of 26500 is only 2650. thats only 40 usd. its trying to take over 20%commission and tacking it on to the original amount

It's not the service's commission, it's a discrepancy in the dollar-ruble exchange rate conversion
Buyers never pay the service fee
This happens when the actual dollar/ruble exchange rate does not correspond to the exchange rate of your bank or payment system. These things should be discussed with the artist personally, because the artist can not predict the current exchange rate of your bank or PayPal

And regarding such large amounts, I advise to try to pay in smaller installments, or ask your artist to create a publication with a one-time payment, sometimes it works.

i also cant get boosty to work like AT ALL even after trying a vpn. it worked once and sent 1 partial payment but wouldnt again after that. i have also wrote to support but still no luck.

There sometimes seems to be a problem with Firefox having an endless loading loop when choosing the payment method (I had that today, but it worked for me like a month ago). There was a proposed solution in a tweet from bootsy in February with some config change, which did not work for me. It worked when switching to Chrome, tho.

I had the same issue. I just emailed their support team (link is at the bottom of their website) and explained the situation. They got back to me in about 10 minutes and told me to make another account and they would transfer my subscriptions across. Issue was resolved in about half an hour.

Im still a little confused. I usually just send everything via paypal with a little extra to take care of the paypal fee. I dont get art often and would like to contribute if i can figure out a way too.

Boosty has 10% service fee and 1-2% withdrawal fee
And you can also pay through Boosty from your paypal account.
So you can send a donation amount of 110% of the amount you want to pay.
