Exter worships snakes and makes no secret of it. He had promised a Spython snake to become his meal to help him achieve his goal: to equal Kaa the god of snakes or at least achieve the title of son of Kaa.
He eventually found Spython and offered himself to him without resistance and showing his desire to become one with the higher serpent and help him while the snake to take his time licking the flavour.. The snake needs a predator recognized as A+ meat to gain more power, become bigger, thicker and get closer to its goal : a dragon.
The dragon will endure a slow, painful but exciting digestion in its belly.
