>pow< Look crotch bling!, What? don't like the word bling?>>
I like the piece the flame in the skull torches looking like it was from an actual photo of fire.:3 And maybe this is a little bit of matrixing but I think I see something akin to a skull shape in the right hand flame.^^;

Thanks - Glad someone finally mentioned the flame effects. I tried a few new things with those, and even set up a new brush before doing this piece, and I'm quite satisfied with the results. And yeah, I noticed the skull-ish shape in the flames. That wasn't intentional, but I thought it was kinda neat, so I left it like that.
Impressively sharp linework and the flames are terrific. The soft background works to punch up the center of the piece and the firelight on his fur looks great too. I think the original had a bit more punch, for me anyway, like a rough old woodcut or wall carving, really leapt out at me a bit more. Please don't take that the wrong way! Sorry.
Actually this is the first Castlevania. So I can't really give you comparisons. I have 2 friends who are castlevania fans, i'll ask them and relay it to ya.
It's just ok for me. I don't like the fixed camera. it's actually pretty easy, i'm on knight (that's second to hardest difficulty which is locked till you beat it on knight), and i'm only in chapter two but so far the story is just kinda pieces here pieces there will probably build up some where toward the middle or something. Friends are farther than i am too so they no more. And this may be just a fan thing for me but i like it because i believe the team of assassin's creed was probably involved considering the design of his suit, and how he scales walls lol.

Heh heh... I must have played like... 10 of them, and I don't even consider myself a "huge" fan of the series. My favourite is probably still "Symphony of the Night" for PS1. Didn't care too much for the few 3D ones I've played, so I'm not sure what to expect from the new one.

Well, I don't think I played a single Castlevania title that had a truly remarkable story - They're more about the action and exploration. And of course the many freaky monster/ boss designs. :)

I played the first one on XBOX. Was kind of indifferent about it, but I did enjoy the free-running system, and it had excellent animations. So if the new Castlevania has either or both of those, to any extent, that's a plus for me.

Scratch that. It wasn't the lord of lycans. it was just a Lycan (upgraded version of werewolf) The Lord had a more human/animal form.
Anyway the plot thickens, i'm at chapter 5 now, the main character the hero, seems hes got a big air of mystery about him. (spoiler ahead) not sure if he's a good guy or a bad guy now XP
Love the monster designs. Wish I could take screencaputres of some scenes.
free running is actually kinda limited to paths. scaling walls is the same.

I love how your art got a feeling all of its own, especially the strong contrast between the almost-pure black, color and light, not to mention the powerful texturing.
My only advice would be to look at some photos of men with well built chests in dramatic light conditions, as the abdominal area between the pecs and the bull skull shows some uncertainty about volumes and lightning. It's kind of a painful area to draw from the mind, because being more influenced by motion and fat rather than "rigid" muscles, requires a certain degree of "distortion" to look true to life.

Glad you like it! And thanks for the pointers - I noticed some things were off about the anatomy/lighting, in particular in that area. I guess I should have tried to fix it up a bit, but while this isn't exactly a "speed-paint", it's not really a super refined "master-piece", either. Already spent a bit more time on it than I originally intended to, since I got plans for a few more Halloween/Horror themed pieces before the end of the month.
Anyhow, feel free to point out that sort of thing, whenever you notice something in future submissions of mine - As I mentioned, the way you render the human(-ish) physique, is one of my favourite aspects of your art.
